is it better and/or cheaper to rebuild a painted caliper or to paint a new/rebuilt one? painting a caliper can be pricey but so is taking the time to rebuild a caliper. so which would you rather do?

Paint a rebuilt/new one. Chances are you would have to repaint the one you rebuild.

you'll definitely **** up the paint when trying to re-assemble it. You'll almost assuredly **** up the paint when reinstalling it back onto your car too. Best bet is to paint it once fully installed or spend a bit of $$$ and get it powdercoated. Even that will chip and peel if abused, but it's FAR more durable than most paints.
