Fellas,

So, I landed this new job in Calgary and will start the trek on September 8. To me it's both bad and good news... Bad because it means that I will not be able to attend the Heart for Hearth event.. But good at the same time because it will be something that will enhance my experience in the field of Civil Engineering...

This is something that's been in the back burner for quite some time. I honestly thought that I won't get the job until I got the offer this afternoon.. It was a great day today and tomorrow, I shall be handing in my 2 weeks notice to my manager...

As for the trek to Calgary, my plan is to take my car with me (yeah, I ain't leaving this car behind). I'll be going through the US because apparently, that's the best route to take (maybe stop by a few tuner shops and get myself some parts :chuckle). I plan on doing a 3-4 day drive and hoping to get to Calgary by the 13th.. I gave myself a few days extra just in case I get sidetracked or whatever. Overall, I'm positive that it'll be a great trip. :)

So yeah, I have to apologize if I can't make it to the Heart for Hearth event.. Even though I won't be there, I will try to do my part, remotely. :)

Countdown starts today. 15 days until The Day. :)

Congrats & have a safe drive! Make sure you're never low on gas in Montana... when I went, the GPS told us to take this one route to Lethbridge that took us through about 450km of nothing but ghost towns... not a place you want to run out of gas in the dead of night!

Congratulations bro! Calgary is a great city. Summer is fantastic there and I always have a grea time there when I travel for business. Winter though is another thing. So freakin cold and way too many dirty cars! (Do people not wash their cars in the winter in Calgary????)

Thank you all for the wishes! Should be an interesting experience. I will still be on TM3 so it will be like nothing has changed. :)

Hit my first road block today though, my manager left for the day and won't be back until Monday. So looks like I'm gonna have to ask nicely.. :chuckle

EDIT: Jon, that Avengers blooper cracked me up! :chuckle

Congrats on the new job. I just moved out to Calgary for school in May and the ride was awesome, really fun roads in Montana. Took me about 4 days with 1 full day in Chicago. Just a heads up if you're planning to stay in hotels/motels for the night try and call them in advance and see how many rooms are available (I ended up driving 14 hours only to find out all the hotels in Montana (near Montana/Calgary border) were booked because of some event going on, I ended up having to drive to Lethbridge making it a 16.5 hour day...

Thanks fellas.

@Fack_Dude - I'll be sure to pack ball warmers for the winter. :chuckle

@ThatGuy19 - Yeah, I'm planning on doing the same thing.. I'll make it a 4 day trip and will definitely call up the hotels/motels to make sure there's space.

Damn... If I do that now, I probably won't last 2. Maybe 2, then throw up right after the ride goes on reverse :chuckle

Was thinking about it.. But the cost of me moving to Calgary plus if I come back for the Heart for Hearth event is outrageous. Thanks for the wishes! :)
