Just having a 3' downpipe doesnt mean you can install the upgraded turbo. You will need a bunch of other parts before you can make the upgrade.

i pretty much have all of that done, except the fuel and manifold.. would it be safe if i ran a big turbo without these?
Impressive

You'll need an upgraded fuel pump system to reach Stage2 on a stock turbo, so you'll definitely be needing the fuelling upgrades if you are considering a BT build.
Also, DP with no HPFP = zoom zoom boom.

So you make a thread about your car stuttering, and your very next thread is BT upgrade?
Buy loki's BT, he won't be installing it anytime soon.

Guys, he actually said he was going to get a walboro fuel pump in another thread so lets give him the proper info.
OP You need to order a cp-e fuel pump or fuel pump internals.

Fast dude was just messing around with you when he told you to use a walbro pump. Everyone either uses the CP-E fuel pump or autotech internals.
CPE pumps are tested by CPE before they are sent out to the buyer but the autotech internals have to be installed yourself or by a mechanic and have no guarantee.

oh aha thats what i thought.. so if i send in my core i save myself 350$ it says? wow lol. so do you get better results from a dp or overall with an hpfp from cp-e

Well they go have in hand. The DP will allow your exhaust gases to flow easier and in turn require more fuel which puts a greater demand on the stock fuel pump. In order to keep up with these demands it is highly recommended that you upgrade your fuel pump to save yourself from future disaster (blowing your engine).
The aftermarket fuel pumps can increase fuel pressue 150-200psi+ over stock pump.
mikey32235
09-06-2012, 10:17 AM
how long do you think my car can last with a stock fuel pump with 3" dp?
Booostin
09-06-2012, 10:19 AM
Well I ran with a aftermarket downpipe with stock fuel pump for 2 months without any issues and my fuel pressure held 1750-1800psi but you constantly have to monitor your fuel pressure with the accessport just incase it fails when you go WOT and blow your motor. With the fuel pump upgrade you have less headache and stress knowing your fuel pump is safe.
At the end of the day it is your call but your pump might be fine for a week or it could last months... nobody knows.

Most people send in the core to get some money back.
I ended up going with the autotech internals. You need to take apart your stock pump to upgrade the internals but it was alot cheaper.

Depending on how you do the install, it can take you around an hour or 3 hours HAHA
With breaks and chatting and going over a few other things on my car, mine took 2.5 and it was extremely hot that day, so we weren't rushing.
It could be done in a hour and a half with basic hand tools if its just a re/re of the pump. I can not comment on the internals install but it seems fairly straight forward.

All im saying is going BT on our cars is more then just upgrading getting a tune and driving... Monitoring and understanding is an ongoing process and just as important...
OP spend this winter reading as much info as possible on MSF keep your eyes open for Seminars put on by MSpeed.

...and willing to provide both correct or incorrect info. Just cuz there's info out there, doesn't mean it applies.
It is always best to read and decide for yourself. In this instance other than guiding him from doing the wrong things, rather than say, explain to him why twin scroll won't work...and we know how tedious that explanation will be and none of us are expected to deliver the same msg AD NAUSEAM for the uninitiated; that's what MSF is for.. You could've just as easily spoon-fed the wrong info, as demonstrated by Fack_Dude, as the rest of us would be pissed to have to correct everything.
Nobody should spoon feed. Your information might be wrong. Nobody should expect to be spoon fed, as the information might be wrong.
Teaching a man how to fish is the NATOR way. Spoon feeding and expected to be spoon fed is very much frowned upon by those who have garnered their technical know-how by learning it themselves, and can thus become a contributing member of NATOR. To the OP and anyone else, I refer you to the recent discussion about NATOR.

Not to re hash a thread but I am currently running GT3076 Twinscroll on my speed 6 and would be willing to discuss with you the pros of running this turbo and what is involved in doing it. I am a big believer in getting away from the ATP hot side and going with a common flange style. Feel free to send me a PM and we can discuss this further

Just saw this now.
Twin scroll on a GT3071 is an absolute waste of money. Our engines can spool this turbo so fast in single scroll that it'll surge if you're not careful with wastegate management.
MarineMazda
11-30-2012, 10:45 AM
I agree with Celeste and BlueStreak. My setup is on a speed 6 and GT3076 that being said there is a speed3 running a top mount setup in the states the is entirely custom! My intention was to assist those who where interested in Twincroll versus the ATP hot side or even the single scroll hot side vs. the ATP hot side. It was not meant to be Twinscroll is the be all and end all just a learning lesson.
MY car will be available for the next week to 'Show" you what is involved. but after that she is going under the knife :D
