Hey All,
Just about to schedule session two of my Street Performance Driving course with Shifters. I had no idea the mazdaspeed 3 could do the things it can when you properly learn how to drive it. Tons of training on rev matching, heal-toe shifting, optimal shifting....etc. My next class is dedicated to steering.
Anyhow, so far its a great experience and I wanted to pass on the information. I believe this course was 399 for 3 sessions but I will likely shell out more money to get the next two sessions before I I do the track course.

I have no affiliation with this group other than being a very satisfied customer.

Glad to hear you had a positive experience. TM3 has a sponsor that offers similar programs, Ian Law Racing.
You may want to look into their offerings before continuing with Shifters. Another benefit to ILR, several of the instructors are TM3 members.

That is a great idea. I would certainly be interested in experiencing what other schools have to offer. I would assume each instructor brings something unique to the experience. Thanks for the heads up. I can assure you I will be in touch with them. It is my goal to enter a car race before my 40th birthday. That gives me 7 years to get as much training in as I can.
My wife attended Shifters to learn standard and it was a fantastic experience. We paid for 2 classes but she was so comfortable after 1 they cancelled the 2nd refunded the cost of that class. Seem like a real class organisation so I imagine their advanced driver programs are great but I haven't taken any personally. I have done Track School with ILS and it was fantastic! I'd highly recommend it and with the sponsorship it's a great value!

I found this school for the same reason. We bought the speed3 and my wife had no clue how to drive standard. After 3 or 4 lessons from me we realized it was time to get some real help haha. I thought it was really cool to see my wife learning how to drive standard on an RX-8

I used shifters after I got my G2 as I didn't have a manual car or someone to teach me at the time.
I learned so much in the 1st class I also cancelled my 2nd class as well.
They did a very good job of explaining exactly how the manual transmission works and stuff BEFORE you start to drive which I found very good - know how something works before you use it!

Yup, he had all kinds of toys to show my wife for the basics of shifting and then a few more to show me to explain how the throttle and clutch work etc..

They teach you on an RX-8? I was wondering if that would be a good car to learn on.. low torque, but if you stall multiple times could flood the engine, no??

Do they take you in a class and in a car? I already have an idea of how a manual works, I'd just need some driving time and probably some more instructions.

I am not sure how they do it with the RX8....I can confirm my wife only stalled a few times when using their method. Its neat though to see pedals on both sides of an RX8.
Just in car, no class at all. They usually start each lesson with a 20min chat outside the car.
