View Full Version : New 2007 MS3 Owner! Few questions.
Hi guys/girls. I'm proud to say I am new MS3 owner.
I live in London ON and happy I found somewhat of a local Mazda forum. I look forward to meeting some of you and learning from this board.
I owned a G35 coupe for 4 years previously and finally jumped on the turbo bandwagon. Lovin it so far :D
As usual, I do have a few questions about my new car.
I believe I own a GT model due to the OEM HID's, and Bose stereo. However I don't have leather seats. Is it possible the previous owner traded someone for cloth seats plus cash to make a quick few bucks? I've seen this done in the 350z/G35 world.
What makes me believe this is that the car has a COBB filter w/ a silicone tubing combo and possibly an exhaust? Not sure how loud the OEM exhaust is but mine has a pretty decent rumble. I figured if someone is into modding they know what they're getting into and possibly swapped seats... OR I'm just paranoid lol.
Another question;
I've noticed minor rust spots on the car.. There's a big (to me) rust spot on the hatch that stares at me every time I walk by. My car is an 07 w/ 70K kms. Would Mazda warranty these rust spots? I did searching and found old threads from 2009 so I'm not sure if they will cover my 2007 now in late 2012.
Last question;
If I posted pics of my car is there anyway possible that you guys would know the person who had the car before me? The person left a card for their Grandma in the glove box but with no name in it and there is receipts from Toronto and Quebec. The reason I'd like to find who owned the car before is me is just to see how well they maintained the car. (Types of oil/gas used etc...).
So thats that. I'd like to say thanks in advance for this board and allowing me to join!
-Nino.
Sorry, I'd like to add that it is a Mazdaspeed 3 that I own.

welcome
1. The Mazda3 came in 3 trim lines GX, GS, & the GT, and then there was the Mazdaspeed3, If you have a speed3 then in no way is it the GT model.
2. Only cloth seats were available for the first gen speed3's.
3. I doubt it.
4. There are a few members on this forum here that belong to Affiliate Dealerships that could look into that for you, all you would need to do is supply them with the V.I.N. Off the top of my head 2 members that come to mind would be Jeff-TheBiz or FLIPDADY, both work at M.O.T. (Mazda of Toronto).

Only the American/European versions came with GT trims. the canadian version is just 1 trim. As for the seats they are just cloth here.
What makes me believe this is that the car has a COBB filter w/ a silicone tubing combo and possibly an exhaust? Not sure how loud the OEM exhaust is but mine has a pretty decent rumble. the factory exhaust is pretty loud and has a nice rumble. you're just paranoid about the seats...nothing was swapped.

Rust is inevitable. Where are the spots on the car?

Whoever sold you the car should have gave you a car history report that shows who the car was registered to before. To check the history of maintenance a visit to the dealer would be your best option.
So thats that. I'd like to say thanks in advance for this board and allowing me to join!

Hey Nino.
Congrats on the car and welcome to the forums.
I'm in London Mon - Fri so if you want a hand in figuring out what the car has let me know. Otherwise your questions seem answered already.
