its actually pretty descent, im sure you've all read the new features. ive had it since beta 1, the first beta is always a pain cause most apps dont work
- a bit faster overall.
- better battery life.
- facebook is built in like twitter now.
- more security features.
- fb is now built in like twitter
- YouTube app is gone but they made one now,
- maps now use “apple maps” cough cough …. Tom tom… cough cough, there is turn by turn navigation though

You should know that the beta's won't get OTA update notices. Just like iOS 5 betas. Don't know why you didn't just go for the GM when it was out last Weds.

Also, bluetooth metadata STILL doesn't work in my speed3.

From what I've read, you get that error because there aren't any Passbook apps in store.

The find friends app has been around for a while. Looks like they just made it an iOS item now though compared to being an optional download.

You had to have hit download. I updated my iPad and as usual you have to either do it through iTunes or download over wifi. No way it would have done it by itself. Either that or get a non-possessed phone lol.

its not part of it. you still have to download it, it suggests it to you though when you upgrade to ios6. but yet it has been around since ios 5 was released. and was being tested before that in the betas of ios5

For some reason, everything seems a lot crisper on the display. I am not the only one that thought this.
Of the 5 people I spoke with yesterday, everyone has said it looks like their screen was cleaned or that everything looks crisper.
3GS runs like a slug, 4 is noticeably slower, 4S seems to run the same speed. Have yet to touch a 5

Hey for the BT issues it looks like that have upgraded the profile on Apple's side to allow that new multiple bluetooth device connectivity.

Basically a lot of OEM and aftermarket decks with BT streaming have lost metadata and AVRCP control!

My iPhone 4S runs more or less the exact same as it did before (which is not necessarily a bad thing). I like how they set it up so when I go to unlock my phone the lighting gradually increases. Otherwise Passbook might one day become useful & Panorama photos are hard to capture properly.

I'm just waiting for full iCloud coverage on documents so I can start using an iPad for note taking in classes as opposed to dragging my MBP around every day.

I also noticed a bit of a decrease in battery life (about 20% overall). I use it quite a bit, but never changed habits since I upgraded to ios6.

As for functionality, I like it, everything does run a lot snappier as some of you have already pointed out. I really like how you can tweet and/or post to FB in the notifications tab. Just little improvements that seem to be making a good overall update.

all the streets are there but it is not as "pretty" and detailed for surrounding objects as google maps was. It works fine though, it finds destinations and takes you there properly.

i find that when i turn off cellular dat for the day, the battery will survive much longer, i can do this because we have wifi in the office. i know this isn't a option for everyone but if you have access to wifi in your workplace or wherever you are or just don't care about having data access all the time turning it off will help save your battery life though out the day.

The Good

Extensions let you customize your phone and tablet to a degree previously disallowed in (non-jailbroken) iOS.
Nice improvements to some built-in apps, particularly Safari, Mail, and Messages.
Camera and Photos apps are better at taking, sorting, and editing photos.
iCloud Drive is a big improvement to the service, though you might not want to turn it on before Yosemite is here.
Handoff and Continuity are also waiting for Yosemite, but the functionality that's there today is promising.
Family Sharing is a solid common-sense solution to problems in multi-user, multi-device homes (though multi-user, single-device usage is still not optimal).
HealthKit and HomeKit are promising frameworks that could bring order to fractured markets.
No major battery life or benchmark regressions, and even a couple of improvements.
Further tweaks and refines the design introduced in iOS 7.
Runs great on A6- and A7-class hardware.
It might go without saying, but this update is available to every supported iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch today, regardless of device type or mobile operator. Take that, other ecosystems (http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/08/the-state-of-android-updates-whos-fast-whos-slow-and-why/).

The Bad

Still no public transit directions in Maps.
Eats up more storage space, a problem especially for 8GB and 16GB iOS devices.
iPhone calling integration works, but audio quality could be better.
Not all of the features advertised at WWDC were actually done in time for release.
Hungry for additional screen space in a way that is unkind to devices like the iPhone 4S.
Free iCloud drive storage is limited, higher capacity tiers aren't price-competitive.
With great new features comes the possibility of great new bugs. Look at some of the problems developers have had with extensions (http://bryan.io/post/97658826431/everything-that-went-wrong-while-building-the-tumblr) as an example.

The Ugly

User interface fluidity and responsiveness takes a dive on older iPhones and iPads with Apple A5 chips.

5.8 to download the update, only takes 1.1 once installed. In all honesty, if you download and install through itunes, it's much faster. Fairly certain it also bypasses the need for 6gb free space.
