Hey guys,

I know some of you guys are photographers or may know a couple. I'm looking for a full time photographer for my wedding next year. I'm hoping if you guys have any recommendations based on ones who you have used before for your wedding.

Im also looking for someone who can do videos and with the ability to do same day edits. They can be from the same company or separate so it doesnt matter.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In terms of budget, i dont have 1 yet if anyone wants to ask but obviously as low as possible.

Thanks

Don't go for the lowest one as wedding is once a life time thing (for some people lol). Check out the past works and choose the style that you like the best.

From the album to the shooting day in your wedding, is usually from 2k and up.

Yup, that is for sure. I understand that photography is quite expensive and definitely this is a once in a lifetime thing so i wont cheap out and get a crappy photographer just to save costs and take the chance at not capturing my important moments

Although I'm not "full-time", I do wedding photography as well. www.squarepegimages.com (http://www.squarepegimages.com) if you're interested.

I'm starting to do wedding video as well, but definitely not same-day edits yet.

we used http://www.elluminphotography.com

Awesome husband/wife team out of Markham. They've never done an indian wedding before (both are Chinese) they did an excellent job listening to what we were looking for and took detailed notes as we explained the indian ceremony and parts of our culture/religion.

They even took the time to research about indian weddings and took ques from other indian photographers to help us achieve the same result!

One pet peeve of mine is when I go to a wedding, the photographer/videographer is in everyone face, they block people's view and are bossy and aggresive to 'get the shot'

The day of, we were impressed at how incognito Ellumin was....we never really knew they were there, allowing us to really enjoy and share our special day. When we got the pictures my wife and I where like "where were they standing to get THIS shot??" lol

My thoughts - a bit late. Now a days everyone and their grandmother is a wedding photographer. Almost anybody with a good eye can take really great emotional shots - especially at a wedding. I think the difference between a good photographer and a bad photographer is when they are able to produce something when there is not much to work with.

What I would look for is creativity in how they shoot (unique shots vs random photojournalism aka voyeur shots). Do they have a helper? Do they have a second photographer? Do they have 2 bodies (long and short)? Can they capture the moment without using a flash? How good are they at directing and managing people. What is there turn around time, what is there post production like? I've been to too many weddings where I schooled the wedding photographer or gave them some real challenge.

I like wedding videos better because it takes more preparation, more editing, a larger investment, direction and thought. It's also more interesting to watch if it is cut really well.
