Hi all,
My girlfriend and I were planning on heading to a lodge/cabin/inn somewhere within driving distance of Oakville (3 hours) on NYE, but I'm having some difficulty narrowing it down.
We would like to get a room with a fireplace, and ideally with somewhere that we could eat a nice dinner nearby.
Do any of you know of any places like this off the top of your head? We're looking at ideally under a $200 budget, but can go above if it's worth it.
Thanks!
Andrew
Check out blue mountain. They have some amazing chalets you can rent but i think you might need to do it for a whole weekend and not sure of the pricing for the different ones. Ive been a few times we a few other people and rented one big chalet with two floors. Im sure you can call and ask for a smaller one and for pricing, but definitely look there.

Even for just a weekend (which is the minimum you'll have to rent, as no one except a hotel will rent for part of a weekend in peak season), I highly doubt you'll be able to find anything along the lines of what you want for even close to $200, especially during peak season (Holiday break/Christmas/NYE/etc.). You're likely going to be looking at a 2 nights/2 days minimum which will end up being a lot more, in my opinion.
I'd recommend booking asap, though, as peak season places book up FAST.

Or if you can pull it off, schedule your getway post NYE, say first or second week of January. Prices tend to be much more friendlier by that point.
That being said, I would recommend http://www.briars.ca/ although it will be above your budget.

If you were willing to stay on this side of the border, I might recommend www.couplesresort.ca (http://www.couplesresort.ca) amazing food, great scenery, private indoor and outdoor jaccuzi...

I think it is just a bad website..
For more info better to call. I guess.
The Masters Suites are the bomb... 3rd floor is best.. nothing better and sitting in the jaccuzzi overlooking the lake, so cold you can see your breath..

Any of your friends/friends parents own cottages?
Try offering up $200 to them to grab it for those desired days.

Thanks for the suggestion! I've been before in a bigger chalet and it was awesome, although it seems it will be a bit out of my price range :(.

You're absolutely right. Many of the places that I looked at are already booked, so I need to make a decision quick and book something.

Unfortunately, I need to schedule it at some point during December, as my girlfriend is heading back to Belgium in the new year. "The Briars" looks very good and not too far away! However, I fear you may be right in it being above my budget.

I had been told about this before, and it would be perfect for a weekend getaway, but when I called, they informed me that over the Holiday season they required a minimum of a 3 night stay, putting it waaay over my budget :(. I'd like to go there at some point though, as it looks like the ultimate relaxation spot.

I hadn't thought of that! I need to find out who has cottages!
Thanks for all the tips/help guys, I'm still looking around but trying to narrow my search. Ideally I would be doing this on NYE, but I've realized that the only places that still have bookings open on NYE are either not very good, or out of my price range. So, I might need to adjust the weekend.
Thanks again,
Andrew
