Anyone by chance know if the AWD R series calipers will bolt on? I know there was some toss around with some of the Volvo items. I'M looking to do an upgrade, and i have a chance to get these calipers.

Anyone know if EvoX Brembos will bolt on? I know our cars have brakes, and so do EvoX's. I'm looking to do an upgrade, and I have a chance to get these calipers.

i used to have an s60R and the brakes are a biatch.. if one of those callipers go a replacement or rebuilt one is 700+.. be prepared for the massive price on brakes haha
don't buy a used set u don't know how the guy/girl drove the R if they are a hard brake-er or smooth on the brakes. if u really wanna do it get the piston seals replaced and the calliper sand blasted

Well, if your gonna be a complete jackass, and same goes with that other guy, then both of you can get the hell outta my thread.
My point of this thread - Will the calipers * brackets bolt up to the knuckle, and Could/will the disc's fit on our hub. Its a technical question, its not a noob question. After further looking into it, the caliper bracket spacing between the bolts are different. They will not fit. The S40 320MM braking system WILL bolt up to our car. You also can use the rotors from the S40, as i believe they use a similar hub to ours. I'll have to look in the parts lookup a bit more and dig around.

I don't think Volvo uses a 5x114.3 bolt pattern so rotors will be a no go!

im lik 99% sure, that we also use that bolt pattern. Unless volvo adapted the 5x112 on some of their models.
Oh, and on a further note....
The Volvo S40 uses the same calipers as the Mazdaspeed. Casting numbers are the same.

It would be easier to just to do the OEM BBK. Mazdaspeed 3 front callipers and mazda 5 rear. just an idea

Don't be *******. He's asking a legitmate question and eventhough it might not work, I give him credit for thinking outside the box. Not to mention that he is spending time on researching a functional upgrade and not asking if 22" chome rims will fit.
OP: Keep us posted on this.

As of right now, all i can seem to find are the stock MS3 ones that will fit. Based on distance of the knuckle bolts, nothing else in the volvo 2005+ generation will fit other then the S40 (which is the same as the MS3.)
Right now, unfortunately if i want to go bigger, i'll have to get the BBK that's listed in another thread, that's almost 3 grand. Even with the MS3 Brake kit, i'll need to upgrade the rims to at least 17". The stock rear calipers the the 3-S are sufficient enough to keep around. The rears on the Mazda 5 use the same pad's, so there are no beneficial upgrade. Still waiting on a price on the custom powdercoat, Going the same color as the car, may/may not look good. What's everyones take on this? MIca blue, or Should i go Cast iron silver smooth coat.

Speed3 setup it will be for the front. Should be exciting. I wonder if i can get some decent covers for the calipers.

Incorrect. 16" wheels will fit on the MS3 front calipers.

I don't think MS3 brakes will disappoint you they work quite well, as for no benefit from Mazda 5 rears, well you may not notice it on the street but theoretically even with the same pads a 1" bigger rotor should keep things cooler thus making the brakes more effective in extreme conditions.

Well, all things settled, i have direct in stock access to Centric Calipers, but i will have to get them coated. I may just paint them.
Calipers, premium drilled rotors, and a set of EBC Pads, will cost me around 600$. I think thats fair. Im gonna try and work my boss into a better deal. Rotors have to come from USA, we dont keep them in stock. They are also about 250$ each. Calipers are only about 180 each (which im sure i can get a decent deal on) with the core (that i cant return)
Hoses are the same, but i think this will be my best stock option.
K-SPORT has a kit that incudes 13" disc's for 1700$, this was my other option. If im not satisfied with the MS3 units, ill look into investing in the Ksport stuff.
rotor and caliper for mz5 rear is different, same as cx7 iirc.
EDIT: drilled is pointless. and are those prices for pair or each?

What do you plan on doing with this car? Plenty of 400whp speeds are doing just fine with stock calipers! If you that concerned about the brakes you should upgrade to steel braided lines while you're at it.

Those are for both. Ill find out my total bill tomorrow i hope. Its not going to be a cheap ride. The part number for the rotors are 126.45078SL Which are sloted left/right rotors. Wont be doing drilled, last time i did that, i regret it.
And in all honesty, I'm an upgrade whore. Everything must be upgraded. That's the only reason I'm about to spend obscene amounts of $ on the car lol.

ok im curious to know how much the front speed3 calipers set you back. already found rear mz5 calipers, just need to pick them up. that still leaver rotors/pads, but i already know the price for that stuff.

Rotors are different in the mz5. We share the same caliper, but a different caliper bracket.

Personally, im gonna be getting stuff at factory direct pricing. Its going to be about 1/2 the cost you would normally pay in a store. Maybe less. I calculated both rotor (150) pads (100ish) and both calipers (probably around the 350 mark due to the core charge)... Keep in mind, all this stuff is new, none of it will be used. plus the taxes of course.....

Not entirely correct at least in certain model years.
Same rear caliper part # for 2.3L/2.5L and a MS3.
Mazda3 2.0L and Mazda5 have a different part # rear calipers are not slightly less powerful (specs wise).
For optimal performance, use a 2.3L/2.5L/MS3 rear caliper with a Mazda5 caliper bracket and rotor.

So, i got my pricing back, and its WAY too much to get the factory to do the powdercoat on the calipers. Its 140 for both done. I'm going to get them professionally painted for half the cost. With a triple layer coat of paint, imsure they will handle the elements for 10+ years.

paint chips easily and will get eaten up by brake fluid and brake cleaners
there's a reason why those factory red calipers you see on expensive sports cars are powder coated
$140 is pretty cheap for both calipers powder coated... I don't see what your problem is

You can fit 16s with the speed 3 calipers. It JUST clears. If you do decide to go that route and have any questions, Redraptor and I both have the upgrade done (I'm okay with answering any of your questions, don't think Redraptor will have an issue either, but I don't want to speak for him :)). One thing that I totally overlooked when gathering my parts was the dust shield behind the rotors. I had to cut my lips off to make it work. See if the junk yard/person you're buying from will toss in the dust shield with them.

That's the one, and only reason why im going new. Ill do it, and forget about it for 5 years. And well, there are no junkyards here with Speeds. I can get the stuff fairly cheap anyways. The only thing setting me back is the core charges on the calipers, its alot.

Didn't see this earlier, I was quoted 140 for both but i got a friend, his best friend does it for a living, he will do it for 20 each. (black, red, or white only though) I figure i would go black.
