Hi Everyone,

I have a weird problem with the stock CD player my 2006 Mazda GS Sedan (I think that's what it is anyway)...

First off, I do not have a Bose audio system, I am using the stock audio system/CD player that came with the car...

So, here is the problem...

Every few minutes when listening to a CD, mild static will be introduced while still playing the song. After about two seconds, the static gets extremely heavy and then the CD stops playing for a few more seconds. After a few seconds of dead silence, the CD will start playing again where it left off. This problem will occur approximately every five to eight minutes. This problem has just started to happen and I can't find the cause. There are no errors on the display panel when this happens. I have also tried many different CDs (even brand new ones with NO scratches whatsoever) and the problem persists. I tried spraying compressed air inside to see if maybe some dust buildup had occurred, but nothing has fixed the problem. This issue does not occur when using the radio (and I don't have an auxiliary device).

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Jon R

time for a new cdplayer! sounds like the lazer or some component for your cd player is on the way out.

try one of those cd cleaners i think you can put them a best buy still. "cleans" the lens of the reader might have something on it causing the cd during mid song to get fuzzy.

are you using a store bought CD (not pacific mall special) or something you burned?

Hey sorry for the delay, haven't been on here for a while...

It is any CD (with no scratches of course) either store bought or burned. It also seems to always happen around the same spot on some CDs. For example, at the 5 minute mark on one CD (store bought) it will start having a slight bit of static, which gets extremely worse over the course of 30 seconds, which then stops playing the CD. Once the CD stops playing, it will start playing again at approximately five seconds after where it stopped. Basically like it is a very long skip when playing the CD. This happens on all CDs, burned or bought and usually always the same spots on certain discs (ie. it could happen on one disc at 5, 10, 15 mins and on another disc it could happen at 7, 15, 28 mins.). There are no fingerprints or scratches on the discs either.

Is my car haunted?

Sounds like the laser itself is on its way out or a related internal component, considering the delay you mention between skips/static it could be due to a component overheating...Simple things to try; Disconnect power to the unit completely-Allowing it to hard reset. Get some electrical cleaner and spray the unit internally or try a cleaning disc.
