View Full Version : Kitty need a home!
On my way home from work, I found this little thing in the bushes.
I did walk around to see if I could find anything else, unfortunately nothing was around, so I decided to take it home as it is getting really chilly at night.
I would love to keep it but I already got a dog in the house, if anyone wants to provide the kitty a sweet home, please contact me!!
I'm in the Markham area.

Have you heard of the humane society?
I would do that first as someone has obviously lost their kitten.
Maybe even put up some posters.

should of asked around the houses to see if it belonged to anyone. kittens rarely wander very far from home. especially wen the mommy is around, she'll bring them back close to home.

Another thing to consider..the kitten could have a microchip tag.
I found it around construction area, not close to home area, I have heard bad story about humane society, I would rather try to help to find her (I belive) a nice home myself.
But if I can't find anything then yes I'll be contacting humane society.
She could barely even walk.

First thought was you were in the area where I work(Mississauga). There are at least a count of 10 kittens in the area. There are water and food dishes about 5-8 different houses with little shelters beside them. I would still recommend humane society, it may not have had it's shots yet.

true about the bad stories on the humane society. you put them up for adoption on friday, theyll be euthanized by sunday.

I did have 2 at one point.
My cat is a grumpy old man. He is almost 20 years old. He won`t tolerate another cat.
I think he is slowly going :loco

Yup, I'll try my local vet and see if they can help...I really don't want to leave it to the humane society.
Thanks for the tip!

My parents won't allow any animals in the house. And I already have enough on my hands with my cat :x Although I was considering getting my cat a companion.
My best advice is to take it to a vet, like was already suggested. That way the kitten will be taken care of properly, given all its shots and put up for adoption. My girlfriend works out of Beaches Animal hospital at Victoria Park and Queen Street East. It's a far drive, but if you're that dedicated to the poor thing, you can take it there and I guarantee it will be taken care of properly.

Do not bring it to a vet. This same situation happend to me and I brought it to the vet and he wanted $60 to take it in. I wasn't going to leave the kitten in the middle of the street at 1am. So i paid it up.

you can always try kijiji, people check those frequently for free pets. and since its a kitten im sure itll find a good home pretty fast. the only problem is, it needs its shots.... and that gets expensive. contrary to many beliefs, cats and dogs do get a long pretty well as long as you introduce them to each other really good.

I wouldnt be so quick to assume anything...of course it's prudent to check with the humane society, but the GTA has a healthy population of feral cats and they give birth all the time. There are over a dozen wild cats that come to visit my inlaws. This little guy could very possibly be a wild cat, in which case soliciting help from the internets is a pretty good idea. Shelters are always near capacity, and theres a good chance he'd get euthanized if not adopted in a reasonable timeframe. Any help finding him a home is a GOOD thing. I'd take it, but we've already got 2 cats

Okay just spoke to a friend of mine at OSPCA. He said if you bring it in they will likely euthanize it.
Kijiji of Facebook and I'm sure you'll find it a safe home.

Industrial/Commercial area, sounds like someone dumped it. There are no residences near where the kitten was found.

my teacher use to take cats in her home until she finds a suitable owner. very important on the SUITABLE part!! not only do you need to find a good home, but you also need to find a good owner. its very sad but very true that people will put kittens in a box, and put them next to a dumpster. she also has a 3 legged cat that i love to take care of from time to time.
you know, i have a feeling your gonna keep the cat in the end. its amazing how fast you can get attached to a stray. and with a little training and introductions, the cat can make a great addition to your family.

They're a great addition to the family especially if you get them young. You can train them and enstill good habits for when they get older. My cat will be 4 next year and haven't regretted a single day. Best companion I could as for

I would bet someone dumped it...I saw a clear path in the bushes indicating someone has walked over it, hence why I found it within seconds after hearing it's initial meow =D

haha, tell me about it...been playing with it ever since I got home XD
Both me and my brother wants to keep it...but not my parents =(
I am trying to find a good home for her/him fast...before I get too attached to it haha
My mom was firmly against getting a cat. She hated them to the point the night before I went to pick her up my mom was up all night stressed out. Going on 4 years later they're best friends and if I'm not around she follows her around constantly. Most parents warm up to them eventually
