I did a quick search but couldn't find a thread about what I'm asking.

long story short my splash shield broke from driving through a flooded road.

no I can't justify paying $140 for a plastic piece that's just going to break again...

Anyone else driving without?

Try checking the junk yards see if they have some lying around for the mz3..bcuz $140 is too much for that plastic cover..and you need it soon before the snow comes

Btw i saw the pic on twitter..and damn it split on half...

They aren't necessary - just don't fly through puddles or at least take off your CAI/SRI

But with snow coming - I would look into grabbin a used one from the scrap yard (or making one yourself out if sheet metal)

lol didn't realy have much of a choice but to drive through the lake :p

so no problem through winter without it? i'm just worried if i hit something in the road and it hits my oil filter..

I took mine off a while ago due to it becoming droopy, torn, and not attaching to all the stock bolts. I noticed no change in tempt gauge reading. I did notice highs-speed noise reduction as the flimsy plastic wasn't flapping in the wind anymore. If you want a metal replacement, go with this one click me (https://www.corksport.com/corksport-04-09-mazda-3-mazdaspeed-3-skidplate.html) or make your own. To be honest, once I can afford it, this CorkSport version will likely be the option I choose.

Making one out of sheet metal sounds like a fun idea. You just need some tools, supplies and a little know-how. :chuckle
