So I've been searching around about cold air intakes and I've been getting mixed answers about winter and the CAI. I have the Injen cold air intake that can be converted to a short ram intake, would that be the best option for winter or leaving it down as cold air be okay ? I know there is the air scoop on the wheel well near the intake, would that cause any problem ? Let me know, thanks ! :D

Some reading. If the site search function does not help you, sometimes google is really friendly.

i have the injen, honestly when i had it as a full cai it didnt cause me trouble for the winter, did have trouble when i hit a puddle.. almost locked my motor but i acted quick.. been a short ram ever since..

have to say you might gain what an extra hp having it full?.. save the grief and run it short ram. unless its your weekend toy that you dont drive in rain or snow run it short ram... if you can park the baby anytime rains comes run full cai all day long.

my 2 cents!

I have the same intake...basically since it takes about 10 mins to install/uninstall..

I do this..

Winter = SRI
Summer = CAI

And you can also buy the condom for it for extra protection....LOL

As for that air holes ....i covered mine for yet again extra protection

Do you remove the bumper each time? I was thinking of doing the same..
I run CAI, all year with a condom lol.. no issue's yet.. key word is yet.

ou thanks guys ! So i'll probably just end up switching from CAI to SRI and vice versa depending the season just for added protection :) as for the condom LOL might as well invest in that too

No need ...you can just slide the whole CAI in there....only if you have removed the whole stock air intake..
The only time i removed the bumper was installing it the first time bcuz i had the stock airbox underneath when i used to have the simota sri..

i wouldnt worry to much as the pre filter and under tray is more then adequate protection. use some common sense as well and avoid standing water or slow down when crossing puddles. i drove around fine with the injen 2 piece as a cai through winter/spring and lots of inclemental weather without issue.

of course if you're handy with a socket wrench then go ahead undo the wheel well liner (the second part of the pipe with filter is bolted to the frame and needs to be removed), and convert to sri in 10 minutes. or you can get a aem bypass valve and never have to worry about a thing...

I had the Injen intake as well.
I kept it in the "SRI" mode as I didn't want to take any chances of flooding as I don't want to deal with the costs/ inconvenience in case anything went wrong. Furthermore, I put quotations around SRI as the Injen 2-in-1 intake when converted into an SRI is not really a true SRI. A true SRI has the filter sitting on top, so you see the entire intake. The Injen intake in SRI mode still dips down partially like the CAI.
