Hey Gang,

I definitely hear the classic groan of a bearing wearing out. I've searched TM3, but found older post claiming $1G for the work. I cant believe this is really true?? I've send an e-form into Whitby Mazda, and was replied back with $250 + alignment. After the several posts I've read, I'm thinking the rep replied with the cost of one bearing part. There was no break down of cost even though I clearly stated that I needed the full quote for both front wheels (as encouraged by the site to ask) incl alignment. also instead of replying with an email, it was a 'canned' form and the reply was misleading since it was sprawled with 'regular maintenance' jive, looks like he had a small spot for the rep to enter some text.

Any dealer sponsors want to chime in?

Thanks!

250 for one bearing part sounds about right based on my experience. My guess is the 1K figure is the cost of all 4 bearings should you be that unlucky. Remember that if you have to replace one, you may need to replace both.

Parts at local part place. ( to me)
$28.
Labour is what kills you here. I believe it's about 2.5 hrs ( book time. )

Yes, I have seen bearings replaced first hand. Getting to them is not easy.

If you have a local mechanic, better go with them. They may give you a cheaper rate for labour.

+1
Go to one of the sponsors. Bring your own parts. Contact flip for parts or MSG me and I'll give you the name of a parts place to call ( same parts as CT but a lot cheaper. )

I bought a wheel bearing for my front drivers side, $60+taxes at Parts Source.. Paid $100 to get it put in.
Make sure you get the one made for abs breaks because theres one available without too.

To be certain, raise your car and see if your wheel wiggles while being mounted tight.. easiest way to diagnose a wheel bearing issue
