Hi guys first post here, I've check out this site from time to time but figured might as well join :)
I have a '05 Mazda 3 2.0L that I got in '09 with 39K km on it (now at 133K) I had the rear brakes done 2 years ago but it's time to do the front (I guess the original owner must've changed them because they told me there was 60% left when I did the rear ones, figured they lasted for ~100K not too bad?)
Anyways I picked up Ate PremiumOne pads at CT when they had them on sale few weeks ago, and now looking for rotors. Want to get something decent; good brakes esp on the front is not something to cheap out on IMO. So Premium or performance parts is what I'm looking for kinda leaning towards grooves?
I was at CT on lunch today and they said they can get Raybestos Premium rotors for $75+tax each. How are they, is the price OK for what you get?
I also called NAPA and they have a few to choose from that range $65 to $115 IIRC.
I'm in Hamilton and thinking of calling a few places across the border to see if I can find the rotors for less (planning on going there in November anyways).
What do you guys think?

Go OEM rotors with those pads. Drive out to a TM3 Affiliated dealer and get a discount as per the TM3 discount rules for that dealership.

They are? I know my speed ones were, but my 04 rotors sure weren't... i painted them myself
Kinda OT, but anyone know what improved or changes made to the stock rotors and the one's from the dealership?
I got my rotors from Joe@MoT and on the receipt it said, <Mazda Part #> replaced with <New Rotor Part #>. I did a Google search for the part numbers, there's different revisions.
I know 2 other people with Mazda 3's and their stock rotors were warped. I'm wondering if the new parts fixes the issue...

Interesting. Well that is a nice touch, i wish more manufacturers did that.

That's weird, I'm pretty sure that my 2010 GS aren't painted, but I wouldn't give my hand for it. :)

I never knew that. They painted for the Mazda5's as well?

Mazda 5's use the same front rotors as the 2.3/2.5. The rears are larger and Mazda 5 specific and also come painted.

hey bro,
Im a service advisor at canadian tire, the ate stuff are crap. trust me! after a while they start to damage the rotor for no reason at all. it happens to like 70% of them that come in. i don't advise it to customers but sometimes they just insist on buying it. the rotors are crap too. if ur looking for the same quality get monroe/wagner rotors, or just oem from mazda!
hope this helps :)

n reply to mikey32235, Im a service advisor at CT as well and even when i worked at Part Source last year everyone there didn't recommend them even at CT we put wagner or monroe on for our customers because the ATE pads and Rotors are so much more expensive and not worth the extra money

Just avoid the headaches and go OEM. I've worked on both sides of the parts biz and I've seen it all. Can't compare aftermarket blanks with the OEM one's.

This. I would never buy "White Box" rotors for $20.

Are these made in Japan like most Mazda genuine parts? And is the cost mentioned previously for each rotor or the pair? Just wondering what a front pair would cost for a 2010 genpu.

The rotors are made in Japan and are priced individually. IIRC only the 6 rotors are made in the USA.
