that link reminds me of how much I dislike instagram. Stupid hipster takes a picture of a smashed volvo and feels the need to apply some ridiculous de-focus, desaturate + faux polaroid border filter. They're such an artist! So deep!

Just like those people who have to photoshop their pictures afterwards to boost contrast/brightness/saturation/shadowing?

there's a profound and irrefutable difference between *minor* adjustments in PS to *enhance* a picture and allowing some piece of software to blindly apply a filter that *destroys* it. Every major professional photographer from Joe McNally to Steve McCurry to Gregory Crewdson all use photoshop to some degree, and there's nothing wrong with that. I use photoshop too, but only after spending a lot of time and effort to get it as close to perfect as I can in-camera. Subtle adjustments in photoshop are one thing, blatant instagram fakery is something entirely different. Even Ansel Adams performed tonal adjustments and burning/dodging in the darkroom. He would never intentionally ruin his picture to make it look like it was taken on another type of camera, or intentionally make it so blurry you couldn't see the details. More than anything I just think it's funny that someone used their instagram filter to ruin a documentary type photograph that wasnt "artistic" to begin with. Use the filter on your artsy photos if you must, but is there really any benefit to blurring out that destroyed car you just saw? When you show your grandkids that picture in 15yrs are they going to think it looks good, or totally stupid? They're probably going to ask what was wrong with your camera.

Anyway, I've already had this argument countless times before....no use beating a dead horse. I didnt even see an MZ3 in there anyway :\
