Hey guys

I know there has always been discussions about boosting stock 3's, and even more recently the 2.5l duratec engine. yes, its much easier to just go buy a stock speed, but that doesnt mean that discussing it is any less fun. :D It seems like its been done now as seen in this link provided by Hyperion.

http://www.mazda3forums.com/showthread.php?p=8439919#post8439919

what Im curious is why is this guy selling his kit if he went through all the trouble of making it work, not to mention the amount of money. reliability an issue? 2.5l engine cant handle the extra stress due to already longer engine stroke?

thought it was an interesting fs add to discuss as well as talk about the limits of non boosted/forged engines :D

ThucP . That said, it can be done safely. Look at midnightfxgt, he has been stable for 2-3 years now ?

agreed, but i doubt that he pushes his car to the limit in a track environment as its a seriously nice show car.

just the amount of money and time that has to be invested into tuning can be a PITA. especially if you aren't happy with the results.

Agreed he doesn't track the car, but I think the important factors are tune, and amount of boost you want to run.

Car has...
- Tri-Point engineering GT2871R turbo kit

my buddy built his escort kit. the thing had at least 240 whp the think was a monster. last year had some boost leaks. he didnt bother to fit it. cranked the boost up. it overboosted because of the leak car leaned out and boom. he parted it out and got the RX7. so worse things have happened but with the time and effort you can boost anything. i think the only issue with our cars is the tune. doesnt seem to be too much out there and even your set up MZ3-Kiyomi_17 with the problems you posted with the some factory settings not being able to be changed would cause a problem.

Can't speak for the 2.5L, but I have had my kit on for 5yrs, and over 60K KM, and its a champ.
