Hey guys,

I am working myself up to place an order from SURE in the not so distant future hopefully, and I wanted to know the best option to get those sweet sweet parts to me without spending so much on shipping if possible. I don't have a passport so even shipping to the border won't work as I couldn't cross it! Are there any other options, or is it best to just accept my fate and budget for the shipping to my house/work?

Thanks,
eric

a buddy willing to pick them up for you who's willing to accept a case of beer + gas money + reimbursement for any duties/taxes paid often works.

There's a few companies that specialize in holding stuff for you at/near the border. Can't really be of much more help, as the names escape me atm.

Unfortunately if you read the first post the OP can't travel to the US.

Have them ship USPS will ease the pain.

I ordered my lip through StreetUnit and they shipped it with FedEx. Think shipping cost me $100 and I only ended up paying $24.00 in taxes.

But agree with SFW talk to them and see if they'll do USPS.

Alright, thanks for the tips guys. I'm waiting to see if they have any sort of black Friday discounts, and if so, that might be enough to push me over the edge and order hehe.
I've been eyeing that Flow V3 exhaust for quite some time now.

what are the advantages of picking shipments up cross boarder, apposed to having them shipped to your house? do you save on brokerage fees or something?

Depending on what you're buying it's brutal. Bought a soccer jersey back in the day and paid about 110% of the jersey in shipping and assocaited fees. Bought the CP-e FMIC when they had a sale and ended up paying an additional 40%. UPS is the worst.

If you don't need it RIGHT AWAY, I live at the Windsor / Detroit border and come back every week or every other week. However, my next return will be December 20 ...

Buy local, most of the time it ends up cheaper anyway.

That is a tempting offer my friend... We'll see if I lose my self control and buy it.

I don't have a current passport anymore as I never really leave the country for anything. It expired, and I couldn't be bothered to drop the cash on something so seldom needed.

Never found that to be the case :D ... bought my Koni Yellows for $615 ... my Hankook V12's for $400 ... Akebono pads for all four wheels for $118 ... Eonon D5102 HU Unit for $286

All prices include shipping, there was no tax, there were no duties charged

i recently got screwed over by UPS, first time ordering a car part from the US, usually just got minor things. Paid a stupid 150 bucks in shipping costs, when the product cost like 230...

i like to support the canadian market, but unfortunately i find buying from the US equates to 33% less or even more savings. and that is after factoring in gas/taxes/duties. of course time is not calculated in that and gas is questionable as i do not make a trip for just one item but usually its spread over a few items.

I take it all those who are getting stuff from the states and saying it's cheaper are driving down to get them? I can't see how else it would be.

UPS is the worst if you get basic shipping. Their brokerage charge will kill you as they charge more based on the value of the item. It's actually better to upgrade the UPS service as then brokerage is included in the shipping rate.
By shipping to a US depot and picking it up you save :
Shipping costs - shipping over the border can be very expensive + duties and HST is automatically charged. Shipping in the US is often free or significantly reduced
Duty - when you pick it up and drive it over the border, even if you declare it they generally will only charge you HST so you save the duty cost

Roll this into a road trip to Niagara Falls with your SO and make it a shopping trip or something and it becomes worthwhile depending on what you are buying.
