Hey guys,
So I need to get my front pads and rotors changed but I do not want to pay $265 for the parts and another $150 for labour. I know I can get the labour done somewhere for cheap but I was wondering if there was some other places where I could buy original OEM mazda brake pads and rotors.

Contact Joe (Flipdady) at MoT (Mazda of Toronto) for TM3 discount on parts.
Edit: Your fuelly shows 32000 km's and you need new brakes??? That's really low mileage. Are you riding the brakes all the time???

Haha no I only started fuelly in July 2011. My car is currently at 66K.
Unfortunately, the good people at MoT will only give 10% discount for TM3 members (that's what I read from other threads). This is good but I was looking for something more cheaper to handle my cheap budget lol.

If you want OEM dealer is the only choice.
If you want standard brakes and rotors. Part source, CT, hot spot auto parts. The latter of the 3 will be the cheapest for sure.

Cheap out on toilet paper, but NEVER on tires and brakes...items which keep you and your passengers safe and alive. You get what you pay for, and it's not like the OEM is going to be that much more expensive anyways.

it may be cheaper now. but you may need to replace them earlier / have more problems with them at least thats what i find when going to the not so expensive stuff. the next set or brakes will be upgraded rotors / pads for sure. but the first replacement will more or less be around 100,000km. you could always install them yourself and then save on the labour if your a bit mechanical.

The OP should also be cognisant that it is good maintenance practice for the brake fluid to be flushed/re-filled and bled when major brake work is done as well.
Edit: Just go to Joe at MoT for the parts and head over to Jimmy for the install/maintenance work.

Thanks guys...looks like I might as well just go OEM.
Now how important is brake flush, power steering flush and air fuel service?
I have never done these before (bought my car used at 25K, currently at 66K).

Air fuel is your air filter, easy DIY.
The other 2 are safety components and should be done. When I have no idea.

I did change my air filter this past July. I think what I meant dealt with fuel injectors/fuel lines etc.

Ahh.
Couldn't tell you then. Is say stick pretty much with your book.
I mentioned the air filter because in the past week or so a thread came up, someone was asking what air fuel filter was. It says that in the manual. ( typo I guess)

You want to flush/fill/bleed the brakes, but forget the power steering flush (Cash grab) and the "air fuel service". Change the engine air filter and cabin air filter yourself. Again, get all parts from Joe.
You will get best overall savings by getting a K&N drop in air filter plus cleaning kit and just cleaning it yourself annually.
Grab yourself some Redline SI-1 fuel system cleaner and run that through as well. <-- this will clean injectors, intake valves and combustion chambers nicely, and only costs $10.95/15 oz bottle.

I got my K&N drop in filter from Joe at MoT. The Redline SI-1 and K&N filter cleaner kit I got from JRP (Johnston Research & Performance Inc) in Mississauga.
Where can I get the K&N drop in air filter plus cleaning kit and the Redline SI-1 fuel system cleaner.

I wouldn't go anywhere near a Stealership...parts are always way over priced. I found a great place to deal with is RockAuto..just have to plan your work a week in advance http://www.rockauto.com

I know its not OEM but rockauto.com has good prices, and you can usually find name brand brakes on there. Just try to order pads and rotors from the same warehouse. I haven't gotten parts for my Mazda there but my other cars there was a huge selection..

This is NOT TRUE FOR EVERYTHING. You would be surprised the price difference on certain things OEM to aftermarket. You HAVE to do your homework

+10000 many OEM parts are actually cheaper than OEM. Mazda has been very competitive in everything from bumpers and hoods to bulbs. Double check with the dealer

some parts you can buy as aftermarket from the original supplier/maker of the part, such as some Denso parts... they'll be the same pretty much for much less than from the dealer
but for most aftermarket parts, they are inferior quality and fitment to the OEM Mazda parts... some of them happen to be more expensive than from the Mazda dealer too
