Hey, i found a mazda 3 and test drove it today and was pleased with it. The car is a 2008 with 78000 km on it, GX model and manual transmission. The sticker price was 9875 and the sales man said the best was 9500 with four new tires. I was just wondering if that was a good deal or not. The car was clean, no accident from what the car proof said and no rust from what i saw. I was wondering if you guys think i should take the offer or try to do a little better.
Thanks for the help

Is it a hatch or a sedan.... hatch is usually more expensive around that model year ( I saw sedans selling for 9k while hatches were selling for 11-13k) and i wouldnt be sure about 9k for a hatch with that little kms. For reference: my car is a hatch and got it for slightly less than average price as the dealer wanted it off the lot. came out to be $11,300 ( including taxes) for a 2008 Mazda 3 Sport GS which was fairly equipped for its price level. It had about 72000 kms when i bought it.

Also pop the hood and check for any frame damage( if something looks twisted or repaired/replaced even though it shouldnt be at this age then its bad) as some accidents are not reported on the car proof and/or the car could be from Quebec ( I was more fortunate to end up with a car that had only had a small rear accident once) .

but besides that 9k seems nice if its a GX sedan and maybe for a hatch.... but itd check since some dealers lie to you ( my dad once fell into this trap with a 2000 dodge caravan that had been in a full frontal accident and it was very visble it had been somewhat repaired....dealer said nothing)

Sorry forgot to add its a sedan. From what i saw it hasn't been in an accident or it was repaired well. It comes pre-certified as well. I was wondering if the the Pre-certified mazda warranty very useful or not really? I saw a few mazda 3's for around 9000 at arta autosales so im not sure if 9500 is a good deal. If the warranty is worth 500 bucks then it makes sense. Granted i never test drove the Arta Autosale mazda 3 but i am on kind of a time crunch for getting a car.

Time crunch and buying a used car do not mix.

Test drive it. Check the report and if you feel comfortable I wouldn't say it's a bad deal. But I wouldn't say it's a good one either.

For a GX that's a bit high. I bought my 2008 Sedan GS with power everything and sunroof for $10,000 even. at 72,000km
