Greetings gents,

Bought a brand new 2012 Skyactiv Mica Black on Nov 21st. My wife needed a car and I needed a hobby. With the Wrap Yourself in a Mazda promotion I couldn't resist. Bought it at Erin Mills Mazda, look for my review in a couple of days. I am in LOVE with the car, might I add I'm totally in love with how mod-friendly, hopefully tuner-friendly the 3s are! It took awhile for me to post, been rummaging through the countless threads and my mind's been running like a mad hatter.

Kinda shot myself in the foot though, I bought the extended MAP 84 months/160,000 KM, I'll see if I can be on the Service Manager's good graces but I'd be a fool to blow away the $$$ I spent on the extended MAP. Guess 7 years is enough time to save, ship and stock up on mods, get info, find the best shops and do a complete redo in 7 years :( or the second the car hits 159,999.9 haha. Guess I gotta lot of driving to do!

Definitely looking forward to being a part of in having a blast with you guys and the rest of the TM3 crew!!! :D

I too have a skyactiv but in white. Hope you enjoy the gas savings, though the cold weather will dampen it some. Be sure to post pics when you can

thanks for the warm welcome! it's a sedan, like you said I think I'll focus on exterior mods for now. within one year's time I hope to get 23% tints, a car cam, 18"s on summer performance tires, axella emblem and plasti-dipped badging.

I thought for the MAP program, if you don't use that fund, it's all returned to you after 6 years.

Really? I wish that's the case. But I think it's already added in my monthly payment. I don't see how I can get that back when all is said and done.

yea although it's added to your monthly payment, you can get it back afterwards. It's like you're paying them 2x per month into this pool of fund, if you don't use it, then you can get it back.

That's at least what the dealership guy told me.

I don't think it works that way.
My understanding with any warranty is it works like insurance. You pay for it but may never use it. If you don't use it, you don't get it back.

I'd re read your contract to be sure. But I highly doubt you'll get it back.

Yea, i thought like you too, so initially i said no. But then he told me how it works and stuff, that's why i agreed to it.
Now I check my Vehicle purchase agreement, there's this "extended warranty" 72 months, 120000 km, for 2050 dollar. Is that the one you got, r4mi5awi?

Looking at my vehicle purchase agreement, I bought the 72 months/160,000 km for $1725. I apologize, I thought I had the 84/160,000 km MAP as stated in my first post.

Does it actually say you will be reimbursed? If so how, Cash, payments dropped, a gas card?

Doesn't say, but I recall him saying cheque. It was at Markham Mazda.

I believe you can opt out of it anytime you like and they will reimburse you for whatever you haven't used. This reimbursement is based on how long you have had the car and how many kms you have done. You can choose to opt out of it anytime you like but if you don't opt out of it by the time it expires, i don't think you get anything back.

I just don't believe what people tell me unless it's in writing.

BUT.

That makes a little more sense.
