Am I missing a part in my cigarette lighter?

This may seem like a weird question, but I recently bought a usb car charger for my phone that plugs into the cigarette lighter, but for some reason I can't get the charger to fit fully. I'm convinced that my previous charger that fit very snug may have pulled a part out or something when I removed it. I took a picture of my cigarette lighter in my 05 Mazda 3, can anyone compare this to their Mazda or know if I'm missing something? Thanks.

I know some cigarette adapters are longer than others...

My grandma had one of those heated seat cushions and the cord would barely fit in the cigarette lighter.

Not sure if this is the case here though.... Do you have anything else you can stick in there?

I just tried my fiance's motorola car charger, its longer and looks like this http://i.imgur.com/ZGiVn.jpg

And that didn't light up either, I think I'm missing some sort of connector or something
