So I know about 3 months ago I posted some pics with iPad mini and the dash kit stating this project was about to start.
Well 3 months and a boat load of fiber glass, broken moulds, and a s*&$ load of patience it's finally done.
I broke maybe 4 moulds looking trying to make the perfect one and once that was complete it was just finishing touches sanding and paint.
The paint I found matches the dash trim 100% and even has that soft touch feel.
Well enough about that here is the video and some pics.

That does look really good. I was wondering what you used in the car to get the audio through. Nice hiding it in the glove box too.

That looks awesome! At a red light, you could play a game or something ahaha!
I wonder how much the data usage is if you possibly use it every day to get radio/music/GPS directions!

Looks wicked, good job. as another had asked how do you think it would hold up in a hot car during the summer or cold during the winter? or do you plan to remove it when you leave the car

Hey booter thanks, I don't leave it plugged in when I'm not in the car. If I'm with the mrs it goes in her purse! If me I just put it in my jacket pocket and I've already checked to see that it fits in my cargo shorts pocket as well.

pretty sweet! I have one question though, you aren't worried that the rare earth magnets will damage either the screen or any workings of the ipad? are ipads using solid state hard drives now? Or are they still using HDDs?

thats perfect then. yea the mini is a good size.. my galaxy note tablet sure would be too big. but its nice you have some cable length and can use and app or two being the passenger.

ipad's have used solid state drives since the beginning.

Initially I was but the mini's are all solid state on the inside no issues using magnets at all. I think it's the only way you can without building a housing that you actually insert the iPad into.

all tablets/phones use flash memory, either built-in or similar to a Micro-sd. laptop HDDs are too big/bulky and power consuming to make use of it. Plus they are susceptible to shock.

Looks awesome. Did you have to get the dash piece custom made or is their a company that actually sells the dash kits specifically for iPad Minis?

Not sure he checks this forum anymore because he bought a new car.
He made it. There may be a dash kit out there but I haven't heard of it.
