So Jhubner33 (i believe) and I swapped tail lights since he had tinted ones and is trading in his 04 sedan soon for another vehicle.

all is fine an dandy, swap goes fine. Tested all the lights everything was perfect, he then wanted to swap bulbs from the signal and brake lights (outer 2) for whatever reason and that was fine too but we didnt test it after that.

Only driving home on the 401 did i get honked at and flagged down because i now had no lights at all illuminating from the outer (brake) light even when i press on the gas, only the third lit up. Signal and reverse lights work properly.

I then texted him and he has brake lights but no signals so im so far passed confused because you can't get the 2 bulbs mixed up because they have different connectors.

Someone halp :(

Why would you guys swap lights as well? lol
So let me get this straight;
Your third brake lights go on when you're not stepping on the brake?!

The Mazda 3's have issues with the wiring harness breaking inside of the trunk lid breaking.
1)Check the wiring on the left side of the trunk lid.
2) Check your passenger fuse for brake lights
3a) Check your horn fuse under the hood 40
3b) Pull out the horn relay and plug it back in
4) Disconnect your battery for a bit, reconnect and hope your lights work.

Third brake light functions normally and lights up when brake is pushed nothing else and I have no idea he wanted to lol.. Inside the actual trunk everything is working fine!

But I'll test the other ones out and bulbs can't be mixed up because they have different connectors one is two prong one is 3

Your right, the signal and break bulbs cannot be confused as they have different fitments and one is clear the other is amber but I would follow leechee instructions with checking the fuses.. I also have spare bulbs so pass by if you want to check them.. they could of got banged around during the swap.. I would think that would be the first thing to check.

the 04-06 rear turn signal bulbs are CLEAR, so they can be confused easily if you don't know what you are looking for!
