The pinging may be the bearings in the strut mount. Just give it a week and see if it goes away. If not you should have it seen to.

Make sure your front spring preload is okay too!

Would preload be too high or too low possibly?. I didnt install, my mechanic did.
Im thinking if contacting Bc Coils for the Koyo front bearings that have been mentioned in a previous post.

It sounds like there's no pressure on your spring so it's sliding around.
There's a great video on YouTube on how to adjust your preload. Just search "BC coilovers adjust" and one of the top video's will be from BC racing.

Pics as promised. PS I'll look into the preload first, then the bearings.

I ordered the Koyo thrust bearings from BC Racing in FLA. They were great staff to work with. No April Fools Joke there.

Can't wait to get them installed and have the pinging go away.

I was told that it seems to only happen with about 5 percent of the coils they sell and many with the Mazda 3's and so why within the last year they've been adding the thrust bearings along with the kits they sell new or will provide for free a set for anyone who has their bill from up to a year ago.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. Took a while to get it together and am really happy for the ride. With only being almost an inch lower and the 18's, it looks a lot lower without compromising height. I was considering winter as well.

On the alignment I went -2.3 in the rear and -2. in the front and with the sway bar it's just swings like its on rails around the high and low sweepers.

Just as a note to anyone installing adjustable damping on the Mazda 3 GT Sedan models is that the adjustable dampening knob on the rear shocks is easy as pie to get to and there is no need or requirement for cutting like the hatchback. Just have to unlatch the carpeting that bolted to the rear seat and unclip the screw. Then just clip back.

the height definitely looks to me like the spring isn't seated properly. it should be lower I think? even at the highest setting.

I'll check with Mech, once I've received the bearings and they are installed. Will ensure they doublecheck spring seating if they need to be set appropriately for these coilovers. My thought initially was the the springs didn't seat anywhere, and that they were flat on both ends, then again....this is my first set and I didn't do the install.

Thanks Sawatsky!
