My latest project

As most of you know I've been kept pretty busy with school work and projects pretty much since October. Unfortunately two of the projects I'm working on are still under development (and NDA) so I can't show you anything from Sony or Toonbox. But one of my other projects is not. A lot of people have been asking to see what I've been working on the past few months, so I figured I'd share it on here too.

Hopefully this game (which is more of a proof of concept really) will be complete by the end of April. The project is currently a first person shooter but I haven't decided if it will stay that way or become 3rd person.

It's not much right now, just a little something I whipped together to show folks. It's only a portion of the interior level (there's an exterior level as well). I threw the level together last night, there's still some pieces missing, and it's currently untextured with a quick and dirty lighting job.
Final version will look much much nicer.

Modelling was done by a friend of mine (as well as the renders).


The video quality is kind of crappy because I haven't a clue how to use Adobe Premier properly lol, and I didn't want to be waiting all day for a massive file to upload to youtube. It's actually two videos hacked together, also there's no sound.

With any luck this is what the final interior level will look like (as long as the lights cooperate).
(I had to compress the images a bit, so they lost some quality)

you should do keep it at 1st person, 3rd person shooter tend to fall off pretty quick i find. what kind of style of game is it? i.e halo, cod, crysis?

It's more of FarCry / Crysis / Red Faction with some BF / CoD and Uncharted thrown in. (Which sounds like way too much mixed together, but it's more of smaller pieces or ideas taken from each)

Thx man. Oddly enough I do have a working MZ3 model, not sure if it'll make it in. Maybe I'l throw in a couple easter eggs, or a secret area. ;)

That is super cool ! That's what I went to school for the first time around. Didn't have the patients to do it. So I made sure to pick something closely related like tree work....

But really looks like a lot of long nights and hard work is paying off.

Quick update:

Almost finished lighting.
AI is done, HUD is coming up next, and then particle emitters and menus.

Ignore the on screen keyboard it's not part of the game, I'm stuck using a god awful mac today (but it's running windows thankfully) and there's no printscreen button on these keyboards lol. I also had to turn down the graphics quality because these computers can't handle it (literally was running at 0.7 FPS, now it's running at about 40ish lol), so it looks kinda jaggy lol
