I took out my car yesterday, and I noticed a really annoying thing : it seems my suspension in the rear squeaks like crazy and I don't know why. I got brand new Koni Yellows and Sportlines (around 2000km) and it was doing it last year, but thought it would settle. My mechanic lubed the control arms (i think) because he said they were lower and maybe that was what was causing the squeaking, but it stilldoes it wheneveri hit a tiny bump. It's also more pronounced on theright side:S

is it for sure the suspension? These cars squeak and rattle like they were designed to do it. Every time I hit a bump something squeaks or rattles but it's coming from my console lol

I'm sure it's the rear, and it sounds pretty loud, also bouncing, thats why ai though the suspension, you know, with the rebound of the car ..

Sounds like you have a worn bushing somewhere. With hatches you can easily rule out whether the noise is coming from the trunk or not, because the trunk is inside the cabin. So if it sounds outside, it probably is

It's going to squeak for a couple of weeks until they settle.

Rear sway bar bushings? Not a common problem with the Mazda 3's but was a huge problem with Protégés.

Could try lubricating the bushings a bit, see if the noise quiets down.

Well today I found out that my rear passenger tire was missing 15 psi, could that cause such a noise ? Because it seems the noise went down a bit.

rear sway bar bushings are a common problem with the 3, as are the rear control arm bushings... two separate bulletins were published for those issues respectively

good springs DO NOT settle... it's another one of those stupid misinformations passed on from years ago by civic owners because they used cheap crappy springs which DO settle
squeaks are caused by something rubbing or bad bushings... clunks are caused by metal to metal contact, such as spring coils banging against each other if the coils were really close together in static position.... the latter of which can be eliminated by putting on spring silencer sleeves (Tein's are the best.... OEM quality)

Didn't know the sway bar bushings were also a big problem with the 3. Good to know!

Simon, I'd look into that, fairly easy to try and lube them up.

Rear trailing arm bushings have been an issue for my 2004 mazda3 GT

This isn't 100% true either. Springs DO settle however the amount the settle varies from manufacturer. For example the amount BC coils settle is pretty well unnoticeable visually (if you really want I can look up the measurment). The higher quality spring the less it settles. However what can happen is springs can adjust in their seat and components can settle.

Ie ever noticed how right off the lift your car looks a little higher than say when you drive it down the road and the suspension moves a bit?

Also poor civc owners always getting shit on.

its not only the springs, but its also about everything else. the shocks and springs need time to fit into each other since theyre new to the car. it has to adjusts its positions over a period of time as the car is being used. the bushings need time to wear or "break" into the new car (new or used).

thats why a newly assembled track car or any other car with new parts needs a shake down before everything is calibrated to the users specifications. not to mention tightening nuts and bolts back to theyre torque specs

kind of like buying new shoes. you wear them in for them to be comfortable, but you end up having to tie them up tighter over time.

my car was squeaking like an old bed today, so embarrassing!! It was perfectly fine in the winter :( Also coming from the rear. How much would it be to install sway bar bushings?

free if you got the tools, its honestly not that hard since its only 4 bolts lol. i suggest getting grease-able poly bushings. they offer great support and are serviceable

if you cant do it yourself, there are people on here that have install meets that might help you. i dont wanna see a member spend money on a simple install. your in waterloo, but if you want to you can drive allll the way to street performance in markham.

alright, maybe ill try to jack it up and see what i can do. Its just taking off the swaybar, putting them on, then putting sway bar back on

Shouldn't even need to take the sway bar out.
