Currently have a Mazda3, 2005, Sedan, Color: Carbon Grey Mica..
I'm getting my car tinted this Saturday and would like your input on what percentage I should go for? I read online that 35% is the 'legal' standard.. but at the same time I read that it's sort of light in the day.. I was thinking of 20% all around.. but my fear is that it maybe too dark at night to see & it's also a risk of getting pulled over by the cops (b/c they can't see inside the car??)
Could anyone post pics of their Mazda3 with the percentage they went with, one during the day & night. I'd like to see the difference.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the suggestion.
Now here is mine to you, don't be a douche and not offer any extra info. Your post is pointless otherwise.
Buddie,
Please search though. This has been a widely covered topic.
To put it plain, there is no specific percentage deemed illegal. It is usually at the officers discretion. Usually they like to be able to tell gender, etc and if they can't then that could be a problem. This also only applies to the front windows as the rears and back can be darker. Those might bring attention though if they are too dark. 35% is what most people say is about that limit.
You shouldn't have any issues with 20-23%. Anything darker becomes a hazard to you and others as it will make it more difficult to see at night. IMO 35% is a little light for my taste.
I have run everything from 5% to what I currently have on the 3, 23%. I prefer the 23% and have never been hassled for tint in over 15 years.

Use google
Use the search function and such.
Go 35% to be safe.

thats a bit harsh considering you do it to other people too. and how is it pointless if your suggesting the same thing too? you want extra info, go search for it. im giving him a lead, I dont need to hold his hand.
heres some info. dont worry about the cop "seeing" you. as long as you dont tint your windshield your fine. i have the lightest tint and i like it. (unknown %)

I try to do it as much as I can so do not tell me I don't. Yes it is good to educate others that searching will help them a lot but your post was just ridiculous. It is pointless because you didn't help him with what would be better in the selection choice of tint.
It is your job to help other members, especially noobs who don't know how the site works. You ESPECIALLY should know this as not too long ago you were the exact same thing. If you don't want to help, don't post.
Holding someone's hand? Give me a break. The OP is asking what tint to go with, not how to learn to drive. Maybe someone should hold your hand when you drive though, then perhaps you wouldn't be running into other members on the road.
Smarten up, help other members where they need it or don't post. It's as simple as that.

Anyways.
When it comes to tints its different strokes for different folks.
Personally I have 20% I think and it's plenty dark for me. Even the same percentage tints can look different on every car.
Black car with black interior looks darker then a silver car with beige interior. When you go to the tint shop check out their samples.
And yes. Please try to search first. There is many discussions on here that cover this. If the sites search feature isn't working properly for you try using google with the " search site" option.
Your search will look something like
" tint site:torontomazda3.com"

I used 25% in the front windows and 5% in the rears, although I regret that now that its hard sometime to back into spots, not being able to see and all. I find my self opening the door and looking back.

YUP.
Did the same thing. I did 20% all round, 5% back hatch. Love the 20%, not so much the 5%.

I have 17% all around and have never been hassled...drove to Chicago and new York without any issues either...pretty much depends on your personal preference...the darker it is the harder it will be to see during the night though

I've got 20% and don't find I have any issues at night except occasionally backing up, driving out on the normal roads is no problem and actually helps to cut down glare from all the cars around you when out on the highway at night, especially in the rain.

Thanks for posting your pic! I think I'm leaning towards 20% now.. my only concern for going with a tint that dark was 1) cops may give you a ticket based on their discretion & 2) I'm afraid of potentially hitting something at night b/c it's difficult to see.
