Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone else with an 08 Mazda 3 have rust??? I was washing my car today and noticed rust around the wheels wells. I have 3 more months on my power-train warranty. I am scared because I was driving yesterday and saw a Mazda 3 rusted to death.......

If anyone has dealt with this what does Mazda do in these cases? I am assuming like all my services visit tell me it is normal and do nothing.

Thanks Terry

Yes, I have an 08 also, I already got small rust on the 2 back door edge at the bottom and a very small in the 2 back wheel wells. I already fixed and haven't seen anything come back. So far so good, bought this car rust proofed from factory 2 years ago. Fix your rust before it gets worse.

Did they give you a hard time? Did they match the colour well?

Thanks T

I did it myself since it was small. Bought rust converter from CT then touched up with paint and clear coat.

I just had both my wheel wells fixed.

In February I notice drivers side and went to dealer and at first the service manger tried to tell me Mazda won't cover it cause it needs to get worst before they do. I told him that wasn't a option and he seeing that I was made so he told me to go to the body shop they use and they will take pictures and then send it two Mazda... Two days later i got approved...

after I got my car back I was puting my summer tires back on and noticed passenger side... Went back two days later got approved ... I just got my car back on Thursday.

once you have rust your pretty much screwed cause it will come back... My sister in laws 08 is rusting so bad now and hers started when her car was two years old and gone back 3 times.

edit: mine is a 08 too and I've krowned it right from brand new and never missed a year

Have a bit of rust on the inside of the rear left quarter panel (the area where the hatch touches when it is closed) also have some near the rear right door sil at the bottom)

I am also a bit concerned because I don't want my car to be covered in rust. Going to fix within the next few weeks

Rust in the rear wheel well came back on passenger side on my '07 Sedan GT 2.3L. Not going to waste my money and time on this vehicle anymore.

Saving up for a Scion FR-S at this point. At least I'll get both better performance and gas mileage with the FR-S.

my baby was rustproofed by the dealer and is sparkly black still. Wash your car weekly and never let and gas drip when you withdraw the gas thingie 2007 gt sport

You really think that will work?

I krowned my car from brand new never missed a year... During winter months I had petro season pass for wash so I washed my car every other day and mine still rusted.

Also spilling a tiny bit of gas will not cause your car to rust.

some Mazda's rust and some don't

Hi Everyone,

So I went to Mazda they took pictures and said that they will cover sand blasting and grinding down the rust and then blending in the paint since mine is the Pearl white. I asked for the entire panels to be replaced but they laughed at me. Just wondering if anyone had this done and what did they do? How was the blending and the work?

Yes it is huge job...

My sister in laws car was just like yours when hers was two years old and it went in three times for rust repair and car has no rust warranty and its really bad now... Mine wasn't very bad (paint peeled off and the bare metal formed rust) I'm hopeing mine doesn't come back... It if it does I'm going after Krown to fix it

Here's the method I used until my warranty ran out.

Warranty Repair #1 - From Mazda
Warranty Repair # 2 - From Oakville Honda (Mazda Warranty shop) they stand by their work for 1 year
Warranty Repair # 3 - Oakville Honda again this time they used a patch panel which has lasted from 2011 to now.

Since I rolled my fenders I have no more warranty but that is the method I suggest using. First through Mazda then through the body shop that should stand by there work for at least a year. Since they make no money the y will be tired of seeing you year after year and should do a better job.

^^ the body shop the fixed ours will not warranty... They've said it Mazda won't let them fix the way they want. (They will actually tell you it will be back)

carstar in Belleville refuses to repair any rust work for Mazda

Who picked the body shop? Mazda? Go back to Mazda and tell them that level of service is unacceptable.

You have to be pretty assertive. The body shops get the raw deal because Mazda pays them the bare minimum but it's your car and you paid for the Mazda so make a racket.

2007 GT 2.3L phantom blue. I spray it every year no rust other then the passenger side rear window panel there are a lot of little bubbles. I have noticed it on a lot of Mazda 3 same place
