Want to know who are my fellow stogie smokers if any...Whether you are an aficionado or a weekend/casual post up...
Me I use to smoke Dominican's but now seem to enjoy the Nicaraguan's, of course my fav is a cuban and like majority of cigar smokers in the world one of my cuban fav's is the Montecristo No.2
Oh yeah for those who post about smoking is not healthy and we shouldn't do it; how you know someone who got cancer from it, or that you use to and quit; don't bother bashing on my thread or I'll be ramming a big fat churchill down your throat ;)... JK... just don't want any negativity here just some social interaction that I will take to another level if there are people.

Hey Karma, I am also a cigar smoker. My daily cigars are captain Blacks but for when I want a good smoke I go for my Cohibas or Montecristos as well. My wife hates the smell of cigarettes but loves the smell of cigars as it reminds her of her grandfather as it does the same for me.

Where can we buy Cohibas in Toronto/GTA? I tried them in Abu Dhabi and wanted more when I finished the pack.
I smoke captain blacks on occasion but Cohibas would be simply delightful.

There are a couple of places that you can buy.
"Smokin Cigar" on Bayview south of Eglinton and they have another store in the Beaches on Queen St.
"Cigar Bodega" in Unionville is another place.
I recommend these guys as they do quite a bit for the smoking community like Golf Tournaments, socials, etc...

Oh dear sweet Moses...so happy a thread like this was made. Big cigar fan here. All started with my first trip to Cuba when I was 15 (how cliche). Here's my current collection. Started it two years ago :) Have an applewood humidor that was passed down to me. It's my pride and joy :D

As for my preferences, I very much enjoy the staple No.2 Monte's, Romeo & Julietas, Bolivars and Partagas!
And ProDJtege...in Toronto I always like payinga visit to Thomas Hinds. They're really famous tobacconists in the city. They're located on Cumberland Ave in Yorkville.

No I am not an Aussie, I am an east coaster. I'm from New Brunswick and we are all heavy smokers of both the cigar and the cigarettes. Just to keep on topic. LOL.

Montecristo
Vegafina( sp)
Romeo and Juliette's.
These are probably my faves.
I also like blackwoods. Don't know why. I just do.
I don't smoke them as much as I'd like to as I don't have a humidor. And my cigar shop is about an hour away. I try and get a few every few weeks but am trying to NOT get the same thing every time.

Ya kind of like a smooth chocolate like flavor.
Where I go for my cigars they have a "house" cigar. Not labeled or anything. It's a decent cheapo that is good for a daily smoker. Better then centuries. Lol.

Never had that problem with a monte.
Once with a Romeo, but I blamed it on the store and a crappy stand up cabinet masking as a humidor.

rukus,
How many monte's have you smoked and was it all from the same source, cause it might have been incorrectly stored (humidified), or possibly a counterfeit.

Actually the next step that I was going to do with this thread was to invite you all over to my place for smokes and drinks one Sunday afternoon.
Yorkville would be nice too but that's going to be expensive as they are over priced, but I'm still game to go there.

I'm game to go anywhere. Lol.
They are not allowed to sell cigars anymore. They just have an outdoor area to smoke them.

I'll have to check it out. I find a lot of those to be well over priced though.
My shop is actually Rama smoke shop not far from casino Rama.
The place next door( same owners) is a full out cigar shop with a walk in humidor. Great prices and selection. REALLY high tech humidor as well. Cigars from $5 and up. Even some in locked cases inside the humidor.
They also sell entire boxes.

GET THEM OUT OF THE FRIDGE!!!
take a Rubbermaid and place a small bowl with a slightly damp sponge in it. Don't let water sit in the bowl.
Close it up and you should be ok. Just check it once in a while.
You want humidity to be around 75ish. If you can go to the pet store and get a hygrometer for 3 bucks it will be worth it.
Also keep them somewhere warm. On a shelf in a living room will be fine.
On the same note. Lol.
Anyone know somewhere in the city to get an electronic humidor humidifier?

Just make sure your not getting moisture inside.
You'll want to check the sponge every few days.

hahaha.... hammered that's funny...
What peterm15 said is good idea although I would add instead of tap water use distilled water so no mold/mildew grows on your sticks...
How many do you have? if it's @ half a dozen I can store them in my humidor for you and with months of aging them will be perfect when Oct comes...
No worries if this Sun doesn't work out as there will be plenty of other days to come. None the less I'll still be smoking and drinking this Sun. Oh and peter check out "Smokin Cigar" on Bayview for the electronic hygrometer, they have a website so you can check it out and give them a call to make sure they have it in stock.

My parents brought back a bunch if cigars from Cuba. They also bought a humidor. In the humidor I have about 50 cigars (cohiba) and I have about 100 cigars in a fairly large tupperware. I bout all the stuff for it, hygrometer (digital), humidifier (crystal type), and the solution.
My question if you might know is... The humidity level won't go higher than 60% in both units and they are stored at 18 degrees (read on multiple sights to store around 18 Celsius). Any ideas how to get the humidity up to 70?
Thanks.
peterm15
05-10-2013, 01:17 AM
Are you talking the jar of crystals?
That's supposed to keep the humidity stable at 70.
Is your hygrometer off maybe?
I can understand the Rubbermaid not working right but the humidor as well? It makes me assume faulty equipment.
What kind of hygrometer is it and where did you get it?
If its not the hygrometer try giving it a boost with a damp sponge in a bowl ( no excess water. ) after an hour or so it should have bought up the humidity, quickly pull it out and see if it remains around 70.
Karmaspeed
05-10-2013, 08:10 AM
Did you prep the humidor first. Prep meaning spraying the inside with distilled water soaking it, then drain it and let it sit for a couple of hours with the lid open. If not then your humidor is probably absorbing all the moisture because it's dry.
As for the tupperware with the 100 cigars is the humidifier rated for a 100 cigar if it's too small then you won't get to 70%, and if the cigars are dry they will suck up all the moisture and you will have to refill the humidifier a few times.

^ Very important.
Well I just got back from Cuba and picked up 10 Montecritso Robusto's (:drool) and 25 Romeo & Juliet Churchills. Never tried the churchills before, but they're really expensive here and my uncle highly recommended them.

@peterm15.. Yes im referring to the crystal humidifier. In the rubbermiad I have a 100 cigar rated crystal humidifier, and in the humidor I think its a 50 humidifier (non-crystal). My cousin set up the humidifier for me and he also did his own which is working fine.
When I got home last night, I refilled my humidifiers. I will see what the reading is tonight when I get home from work. They were both at 18 degrees and 60%.
