Today I noticed that my driver side headlight is done :bang. The car is '05 and I already replaced both headlights and brake lights (all went with in 6-8 months) in 2009. I guess it's that time again. I replaced the headlights with whatever Canadian tire guy matched me up with, I know it didn't cost much.

Should I just replace with cheapo bulbs and be good for another 4 years or should I just go with something better (assuming they're brighter and will last longer)

ps: can I get blue colour lights just by changing the bulbs or more stuff need to be changed?

when installing bulbs, dont touch the glass. itll make them burn out sooner. you can go with whatever bulb you want as long as theyre white or amber(yellow), and at the right wattage.

you can change to a blue bulb any time and not do anything thing else. the light will be white however unless advertised other wise

It's not recommended to change any forward facing lights to blue, unless you WANT a ticket, then by all means, shoot yourself in the foot.

My fogs have been blue for a while and cops don't even question them.

OP I wouldn't suggest making your headlights actually blue as the light output isn't that great. If you meant the bright lights that look blue you see people have those are 8k or higher HIDs

I will also personally have a disliking for you if your blue lights enter my eyes at night. It's distracting, there is a reason on 1 group of people can have coloured lights on the road, and that's to get your attention.

I don't want anything over the top in your face. Just a nice bright white or with a hit of blue/purple. Anything yellow/amber I'm not a fan of...

If you meant the bright lights that look blue you see people have those are 8k or higher HIDs 8K? Can I go out and get a bulb that will do that and will be a simple replacement or does it involve other/expensive mods?

not obnoxious at all. All cars will and should come with HIDs from the factory in the near future.

Most of OEM setup is 4200 and the reason you see blue/purple is due to the optics not the colour temperature. Just keep in mind that you won't have exact same look as someone with proper OEM setup.

Hotsky - if you want something easy, just buy Nokya arctic white stage 1 bulbs. It's a simple replacement (just swap the bulbs), they're cheap, they have decent life and they look blueish. Most brighter halogen bulbs like Sylvania Silverstars, PIAA's, Nokya's, etc. won't last as long as standard bulbs, just an FYI.

If you don't mind doing a bit more work, get an HID kit form NextMod or G16 for ~$60 like pretty much everyone else has. If you actually want to do it properly (ie., get OEM quality light output or better) do THIS. (http://www.theretrofitsource.com/index.php?cPath=24) (<--click)

Go HID. Tad more expensive way better in the long run.

Since your in Hamilton, the easiest place for you to check out is Performance Improvements. They should have them, or something similar.

If you don't mind driving, many sponsors on here should have them as well.

dont touch the glass and it "should" last for a while. remember, halogen bulbs dim over time so its good to change them every couple of years

I wouldn't count on them lasting more than a year or two. Most bulbs like those don't last very long. Even the $80 PIAA halogens don't last very long. And the new Sylvania ZXE bulbs even say right on the package that they wont last as long as standard halogen bulbs.
