Hey, I just tinted my tail lights on Saturday myself for less than $20.00. I used a permanent spray called Night Shade which comes in a spray can for about $15.00 at Canadian Tire. You will also need some painters tape. Tape around the lights and tape newspaper around the lights to catch the over spray. Then spray at most three light coats waiting about 2 minutes in between each coat. I did literally 4 passes and got my desired shade after two coats. I think on the can it says do not exceed three or four coats, but I see some people that do it really dark. This solution is permanent, so there's no going back if you ever change your mind.

1) it's not permanent the way you did it. It's not even permanent when you wet sand it.
2) you should have wet sanded
3) you should have laid them flat for better results.
4) you should have waiting 10 minutes between coats
5) you should apply 3-4 layers of clear coat.

You should remove your tail lights. Mine are night shaded and first I clean the surface then sprayed 3 layers of night shade (like hyp said give ten mins before each coat) then I applied 4 coats of clear coat

Just get them tinted, its easier, its glossy, and is easier to remove. Ive never understood why ppl use night shade. Just my opinion though.

I've tinted my tail lights with night shade on everything I've owned .. I love the look of smoked tail lights...

I like it too I just thought tint looked better. Ive seen night shade look good too but usually its like a flat finnish.

If you put clear coat it won't be dull

or if you don't want to pay the price of install, just buy the film yourself.
lamin-x.com has kits.
i will likely be using a laminx headlight get to get a light tint on my headlights.
