Do you have to clean it or anything when doing oil changes? For the price of 20 regular filters... unless you never have to touch it, it seems like more hassle than it's worth. And if you DO have to clean it... well... who wants to do THAT?? :D

Seems like it would add an hour onto a 10 min oil change.

And the possibility of leaving metals debrits in your filter if the magnet is not strong enough ...

please....dont use this on a street car.... its not going to provide much protection. these are generally used in competitions where the engine is striped over and over again. they use these in those engines because the offer some filtering, while keeping the highest oil flow rate possible during the oil cycle.
these will filter out large particles to keep oil channels from clogging but will let the smaller (more damaging) particles through more easily. to these race teams, as long as the engine is running at peak power efficiency with as least resistance as possible it doesnt matter what the wear is like at the end of the day since theyll rebuild the engine
the reason why we discard old oil filters is to throw away all the debris caught in the system. we replace it with a new filter which will have a fresh filter element with the correct filtration properties. as oil filters become used and saturated with debris, the crap works its way through the filter and eventually makes it through. the filter becomes more porous over time as well.
and honestly, a LOT of people have lost theyre trust in K&N due to theyre air filters and theyre claims.
