Hi my car comes with a cruise control and rarely used it except on long high ways, i waswondering if its practical to use it on normal road? I hear people talk about using cruise control gives more mileage because distribution of gas is stable when enabled less gas is consumed i dont know if anyone really proves it.

it would be very annoying to use on the regular roads with all the frequent stops lol its more of a hassle and prob wont save any gas anyway. its definitely useful on the highway tho!

Useful yes but it all depends on the conditions. It's used to keep a consistent speed.

Flat roads (highways) will result in the best mileage using cruise. If you can let off the gas on some inclines and reduce the speed a little you will obviously save some fuel but whether it's worth it, who knows.

Keep your speed at 100-110 vs 120 with cruise and you will notice a difference.

Problem is, living in the GTA, it's hard to keep it on for more than 30 secs without braking or getting fed up using the accel and decel buttons like a pianist lol

I use mine on certain roads. I use the 'up and down' switch to adjust with the flow of traffic if need be, and only touch the brake if I need to.

I find that on hills, it shifts gears earlier than when I'm riding the pedal. Can't help but assume that it burns more gas in hilly areas. On relatively level roads, I'm sure the efficiency improves, even if its marginal.

if i want to save gas on the highway, i stay at 3000rpm and nothing over. worked pretty well for me and my 4spd. cruise control gets kind of annoying sometimes when the highway has slight rolling hills, because itll start accelerating a tiny bit. just got to get use to it thats all.

adding on to CWP sedans comment...
I use cruise on flat highways when I want to stretch my legs. I find that our cars (at least as long as you didn't do some mods like BSD) are very easy to keep at the same speed even without using cruise... and if you compare your gas mileage with cruise ON vs OFF on highways with a lot of ups n downs you will see a significant impact to your gas mileage (maybe ~2L/100km). When going up hills let off the throttle (e.g. on a really big hill allow speed to bleed off down to about 80 which is generally the most fuel efficient speed anyway) and when going down hills let your speed build back up.
I've hit 7L/100km multiple times in my speed even with aggressive driving in the corners doing this kinda thing.

Note- if you're doing this in traffic you may piss other cruise control users off.

yup. if you tap it, it increases by increments of 1 kph. if u hold it, itll increase by increments of 5 kph. theres a lot of nifty things our cars can do, and its all in the manual.

If I double tap it in my moms jeep it increases by 10kmph. I've never actually tried that in my car though.

I find that each push of the button increases/decreases by ~2km/h..

It's actually 1mph so about 1.6km/h when you hit the button...yes, even in the canadian 3's. At least according to the manual.

Seems about right. Sometimes when I hit it my GPS will increase by 2KM/h, sometimes by 1KM/h.

lol having the wrong tire size can effect that too
