Hey everyone, just a quick question, if I were to get lowering springs for my 2009 sedan, would the sportlines be too low? I've seen a tonne of people using pro-kits but have yet to see a Mazda with sportlines.

Apparently the drop on the pro-kits is about 1.2-1.5 inches and the sportlines are 1.8 or so, Im hoping one of you guys can chime in and give me some advice

I had prokits first on my first gen before and they do have a nice noticeable drop.....then I switched to sportlines because I want my car lower....

The only thing if you go sportlines is that be ready to upgrade your shocks/struts...like koni yellows....

I suggest if you just want to lower a bit and make the car noticeably different....go with prokits...

If you want lower...then save up and invest on good coilovers....dont bother getting sportlines as you will need proper shocks/struts down the road.. intend for lowering springs....

Check my ride thread above my sig.....I still got my pics on my first gen when I had the prokits first and sportlines with koni after...to give you an idea of the drop difference

If you are sticking to your oem rims I say go sportlines

im going on 18 x 8's soon, is that still okay for sportlines?

Mazdy: I was planning on getting Koni Yellows as well, is it still worth it to get Koni Yellows + Sportlines, or is it worth it to just get coil overs

It also depends on the offset of the tims anf on your tires...are you going low pros? If not you might need a roll..

Also like I said...if your going sportlines...might as well get upgraded shocks/struts like koni yellows...bcuz your suspension will blow in a matter of time..maybe 3-4 weeks...

So like I said...just get prokits or invest on coils

Btw when I had sportlines with konis....unless you have a winter beater....sportlines wont go well in winter....well when theres a lot of snow...

So if your really thinking going low...go coils...so u can adjust height and dampening

To be honest....before I shouldve gotten coils instead of konis+sportlines....the price differ is not a lot..unless your lucky to find used...

I think the offset is 40 and im not sure if Falken zx912's are considered low-pro's.. But thank you for all the advice. Cost-wise though, is it much of a difference between koni's + lowering springs and the coil overs?

Arent coils a bitch to maintain though? I was thinking about doing coils but then heard its not fun to maintain during the winter.

18x8 on sportlines will fit easy as long as you don't go with a stupid big tire. I had 18x8 +35 215/35/18 with lots of room all the way down on bc coils

go with coilovers and call it a day, youll be thankful for the adjustability. and if you ever get different wheel setups, you can adjust the car to fit them

But then that would defeat the purpose D:.

What's so hard about maintaining them if you adjust? I wouldnt mind not adjusting if it was just me driving.

I don't think the goal of coils is to constantly adjust them. I think it's to adjust it to a height that works for you then not piss with them. Of course still maintain them should you need to. Which I did and after 4 years of daily use I sold them to Will who is using them and was able to adjust them.

Well constantly would be twice a year (after I find the right height). Althought the height I want probably isnt going to be a problem in the winter :P.
