Heart For Hearth 2013 - Set a Record, Win a Car! - September 22, 2013

Last September, Torontomazda3 members and friends came together for an Epic Photo Shoot in support of Hearth Place.
The result was the epic picture below, and almost $10,000 raised for Hearth Place.

By popular demand, this September, Torontomazda3 is coming back to the Oshawa Municipal Airport for Heart For Hearth 2013. This year we have really big plans, and we hope you will join us.

On Sunday September 22nd, 2013 TorontoMazda3 (TM3) will host the largest gathering of Mazda 3's ever! We will be attempting to set a Guinness Record with 800 Mazda 3's participating in a parade lap and photoshoot. The event will take place on the runways of the Oshawa Municipal Airport and will run in conjunction with the 5K On The Runway event, with both events raising funds to support the Hearth Place Cancer Care Centre in Oshawa. TM3 aims to raise over $20,000 in donations, including a $5000 donation from Mazda Canada.

Need more incentive to attend? How about a chance to win a three year lease on a 2014 Mazda 3?

Each car in attendance will receive a raffle ticket. At the end of the event, we will draw a ticket and one lucky attendee will win a three year lease on a 2014 Mazda 3!

We will also be hosting a separate raffle with tickets sold to raise money for Hearth Place. Prizes for this raffle will be announced at a later date.

Multi part answer.
1)Hoping that people see we were able to pull off last years event smoothly, will encourage more people to attend. We had a lot of people register, and not attend. We also had a lot of people say they were going to register, or have friends/family register but did not get those people to register.

2) We are giving away a three year lease on a 2014 Mazda 3. That should certainly provide some additional incentive to register/attend.
3) We are trying to set a Guinness Record(need 684 Mazda 3's). The chance to be part of the record should certainly provide some additional incentive to register/attend.
4) Mazda Canada - Will be putting it on Mazda.ca, Facebook, twitter, Zoom Zoom ezine. Additionally every dealer in Ontario, Quebec, and North East US will be promoting the event via posters, and email campaigns.
5) Additional marketing on our side. Now that we have done this before, we can spend more time promoting the event. We will have more post card flyers, more posters, more emails, etc.

2014 is a full redesign. We will have pictures, maybe not full images, but enough for our graphics "soon" ;)

I have to agree with Ami on this. This is an event you should put in your calendar and work around vs seeing if you can fit this in around all other obligations haha. This was my wife and I's first exposure to TM3 and we couldn't have had a better time.

Great cause, great group of people and who can deny that 100 car or whatever it was cruise down the 401 wasn't the coolest thing ever! :D

I would have said it this way as well.. Come on really, it's more than 3 months advance notice. At this point it's either you're going or not. Make a commitment and stick with it.

This event is not just for the prices, not just to break the Guinness World Records, but to be part of a good cause to help those in need.

My project ends this October and by that time, most people would have been shipped to other places. If I'm still here then, I will just fly down and rent a Mazda 3 for the day.

So there, that's my commitment to this event and the club as well. With or without my car, I'll see those willing to give time on Sunday, September 22, 2013. :thumbsup

Last year's H4H meet was my first TM3 meet and it was such a great experience! My car was totally stock that time but I am looking forward to bringing my car with a few mods this time :) I brought a buddy last year and I will bring more this time! I will see if I can get them to register and donate even if they come along in my car. I'll try and get some more non TM3 Mazda's to join!

You could just put it on people's doors/inbetween the frames if they have 3 in their driveway. Probably better than touching cars on a private driveway.

What about vinyl decals for member rides windows? They can have basic attention grabbing information about the event? Maybe a QR code to the registration/info page?

I've toyed with the idea of decals. If someone wanted to design one or two options that they felt would serve the purpose, go for it, post it, and if it works, I will have them made.

QR codes mean nothing if you don't know what they're for. People won't start scanning random QR codes on cars. We are trying to target a specific market so to do that we need to make the message loud and clear.

We included a QR code link to the HFH site on our marketing flyers last year. We will again this year. As soon as we get official images of the 2014, we will be finishing our promo items, and printing 2000 postcard/flyers.

honestly, I don't see it happening in 2014. I was unsure about trying to put it together this year. But, the record attempt, and the major prize from Mazda, and the potential to really help Hearth Place.
The work and hours involved in putting on an event like this...not likely to happen next year.

Was thinking it would be good on the back window, or the small window on the rear passenger side of the hatch... I don't expect people to be reading it on the highway or anything. Just thinking about when my car is parked in a retail parking lot, or stopped at a stop light... Last year I had one of the adverts on my dash all September, but I don't think many (if any) people read it when i wasn't there to inform them about it. Which I understand because: personally, I'd feel a little awkward getting caught checking out what people leave on the dash of their car.


I'm trying to find a way to word it that isn't going to be long winded and over cluttered, but still informative and attention grabbing.

If I'm headed in the wrong direction with this, let me know. Just trying to help out:P.

Not a bad idea, but really, how many people are going to buy one for only 1 day? even if its for a amazing cause. Ill be telling any mazda owners i see with word of mouth, and maybe write down a website or something

More than 300..I hope so..we are givign away a 3 year lease on a car! I need at least 684 Mazda 3's.
Working on a design for this year, with ~800 cars, timing is going to be difficult, but yes Kaspi will be on hand to produce aerial photography again.
We are also going to do a parade, like the Miata folks. That is required for the record. We are working on that route, it will be at least 3km parade route.

There are restrictions (airport and 5K run/walk) that we have to follow so once we have an idea of what those are specifically we can get more detailed with the design. Ideas are welcomed though. :)
