I've always attempted to price multiple vendors, and I've only ever gotten reasonable rates from Enterprise. I've rented a fair number of cars before. Maybe there are some smaller rental shops that I'm unaware of though that give great rates, but in terms of the "big guys" Enterprise has always been reasonable and enjoyable to work with.

Forget which one, but you can now bid for remtals on either priceline or hotwire . Check out betterbidding.com for tips. I set my mother up with a rental whn she was in Halifax a few months ago. Saved about $90 on the lowest weekly rate I could find.

Check your credit card. It may have preferred rates for its cardholders at a particular place making it the best choice

I agree. They pay a big fee to set up shop at the airport.

Depending on where you are.

When I fly to NFLD it's cheaper to go with the airport rental places then ones in St. Johns. I would assume Toronto does NOT work that way though.

I think it may have something to do with KMs in this case though.
