Avoid: 427. DVP. Any "Underpass"

Don't count on the subway - Most cars stopped.

Also, the majority of sauga is without power - Traffic light means: 4 way stop. Most people are treating it as pure chaos.

Best to stay off the roads all together if you can. Just because you change your driving habits to match the weather doesn't mean everyone around you will.

Agreed, hearing sirens every 2-3 minutes. Backyard is getting flooded, never ever happened before. Heard a loud crack and boom, a big branch off my neighbors willow tree fell off. If it continues to rain the rest of the week, basement might be in jeopardy.

My girlfriend got off work, now shes stuck in Islington and Dixon. Her phone is now broken cause some jerk ran into a puddle really fast and she got splashed by the dirty water including her phone. I can't even call her, or text her. Last time I heard from her is 1 hour ago. I'm really worried for her. -_-"
She doesn't know how to get home. She's a lost puppy out there!

My buddy was on 427. He got off the first exit south bound after 401 Thankfully he's in a Honda element, so he was able to get through some of the flooding without wrecking his car. (its actually got a decent amount of ground clearance!)

Yesterday was one of those days I'm thankful I leave work at 4:15. Was on the bus home when the rain started. If I'd left an hour or two later I'd definitely have been stranded.

My wife walks 20 minutes home with the kid from daycare everyday. She got in the apartment about 3 minutes before the deluge began.

Very sorry for anyone that was stranded yesterday!

Oh and I decided to work from home today (instead of tomorrow as usual) to avoid any transit problems. Love my flexible workplace.

I would have worked from home today as well if not for the very important meeting (which I will be pissed if cancelled...)

I went through some fairly high water. Felt like at one point my car kind of dipped down into water all the way up to headlights. Parked - was a bit of foggy-steam. Opened the hood - all seemed fine (alas was some water drops here and there)

Drove to work fine today though. Last night was super boring for me =(

was caught on bayview extension just about 20 minutes after the rain started, at that point bayview already had water half way up my tires, i was losing my shit thinking i'm going to suck water. Put my flashers on and made it through. I think it's only after 6 that things got really bad!

Boggles my mind how GO Transit was continuing to run trains over pottery road, doesnt surprise me that it got stuck.

And why was there no official announcemnts from the city of Toronto???

Quick check of the MTO cameras (http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/traveller/trip/traffic_cameras.shtml) reveals that 401 is a bit backed up coming from the West (say around the 427) but most of the rest looks ok.

Never thought to check that. Thanks!
Just figured with the flooding and all it may be bad so I prefer to ask the people who live there.

Further investigation reveals it is an accident at Dixon road. 2 lanes closed (http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/traveller/trip/map.shtml?ll=43.696424,-79.459648&z=10). So nothing flood related.

Dammit, I need to do some real work.

Wow. Thanks a lot. I'll be able to check up the traffic. I was just asking people that lives there. If the busses are cancelled, I'm gonna have to go and pick up my girlfriend early. Thanks again. =P

This will only get worse due to global warming. Once the world has a +2 degree increase everything will go haywire. I hope everyone learns from this and prepares for this to happen more frequintly through out the next few years.

I was at UTSC throughout the evening. It was decent amount of rain and no power went out. I heard that the city was in utter chaos and I thought to myself "What? It's only a bit of rain". Opened up Facebook and saw the plethora of posts of the city underwater. I was lucky where I was we had no power outage, and still internet

The power goes out and the water rises... ohhh "global warming" ahhhemmm... I mean climate change... man up, society is full of unprepared people living close to water with luxury cars and no flooding protection. Why do you think insurance companies don't cover natural floods?!?! It's bloody common sense to me...

For those of us that are "lucky/smart (they go hand in hand)" you would live on higher ground and have a small pump + backup power.

The flooding on the roads was caused from clogged storm sewers being over burdened, I unclogged 2 them on my street by pulling off the leafs and twigs to get rid of huge puddles. Some people did this on the highway by wading through waist deep water to pull crap from the top too... so maybe people just need to be smarter and depend on themselves rather then expecting someone else to do something... bystander effect anyone? I have no idea why I see crews picking up garbage but not keeping the storm sewer covers clean.

The river swelling obviously can not be prevented as easily so the best way to stay safe is to stay away.

Hope everyone is safe and sound + this might teach people a lesson to be a little more ready for bad weather to happen... society is soft don't dependent on it.

This city can't even agree to build new and expand existing transit infrastructure, notice I didn't say afford.

How can you expect Toronto to have the fiscal responsibility for natural disaster contingencies.

Got power back at 8:30 last night in Liberty Village and thought we had survived despite the flooding that occurred throughout the neighbourhood. This morning I got to my car, and the plaster, drywall and drywall tape all over the ceiling was hanging down, or on the ground. Luckily nothing above my spot, as it is entirely concrete.

Also lost power again at 11:30 this morning, and now Toronto Hydro says it will be out until tomorrow morning. Dreading my drive home and lack of a warm shower.

I had my car parked at the curb and saw the torrential rain flow around my wheels. I could see that it looked like water went up and over the plastic engine cover on the underside of the car and then seemed to come out of the front part of the car. As I watched, I thought 'shit, my new fogs will be water logged.'
It seems as though they were fine and lit up afterwards. I hear there is more rain coming though and it has put off my camping trip with my son.
