Hi guys:

Came across this forum while i was searching for the information regrading what accessories i need for my new car which is Mazda 2013 GS-Skyactive. It is really cool to see such an active forum as i am new to car ownership and would seek various suggestions on how to decorate and maintain it. :chuckle:chuckle

It is not arrived yet, but i am making a list of what accessories i should buy. Car color selection was a tough decision but settled in with 'Graphite Mica'. Any suggestion would be much appreciated e.g. what else would be useful addition, from where to buy, brands etc.

Till now i have following items in list..

1. Rust Proofing. Full car.
2. Tinting window.
3. Small mirror for side windows
4. All season floor mats
5. Tissue paper, perfume etc
6. GPS - not sure yet, as iphone google map seem to work fine for me :P

Thanks guys

Welcome! I bought my 2013 GS-SKY just a few months ago! Went with Crystal Pearl, but the Graphite was definitely on the list of the colors I wanted! Eh, I got white and somewhat wish I had another color. Pretty sure I would feel that way no matter which color I'd get.

As for your list - sounds good! Here is my opinion on that:

1. I got rustproofing done at dealership (Not sure how good that is, but I am extremely poor, and I figured they'll be doing it yearly for the next 5 years, so its not that bad)
2. I am definitely going to do this. probably next summer though. I am personally looking at 35% or 20%. Not quite sure yet still...
3. They were useful when I was in driving instructor's car, but somehow I find them annoying and feel like they ruin the look of a Mazda =(
4. I got mine the next week from the dealer. Best purchase by far. Keeps my floor nice and clean!
5. I bought Navigon Canada from App Store on my iPhone. Also, GPX Drive is another great one IMO (no voiced street names). Navigon was $35 on sale, and GPX was $1 on sale with $10 for 1 year voice.

I also got a Toronto Mazda 3 license plate cover from the dealer =)

So far, one thing I've changed on my Sky is the headlights - installed an HID kit. Not going to lie - I love the HID kit look! Here it is in the process of being installed. The blue is the 6000k HID:

Another thing that I've been meaning to buy for a while now are the rain guards. I don't know if I like the look all THAT much, but I can't deny the usefulness! I wouldn't mind rally armor mud flaps either, but I feel like that's overkill, considering that I am driving 90% city.

Also, because I can't afford new wheels, thinking if I wanna plastidip my stock ones to white, but I feel like that will be a huge regret because: 1. stock 2. white
Though I am planning on getting my calipers painted white, so....

Remember to check out the sponsors section of the forums!

Anyways, congratulation on your purchase! I hope you will love it when it arrives! Welcome to the community!

Rust proofing is best with the yearly oil spray vs whatever the dealer does. It might cost more but a car is expensive anyhow it's part and parcel of ownership. You can read online why the dealer rust proofing isn't consider that great...

What do you mean small mirror for side windows? You mean the tiny convex mirrors? If so maybe you should just set your mirrors correctly rather than install such a thing. Set correctly you should have next to no blind spot. Most people set their side mirrors wrong, if I can see your face from behind your car you set it wrong. Properly set mirrors should have a car leaving the view of the rear view mirror as it enters the view of the window mirrors. If you see a car in both mirrors you got it wrong.

Weather techs are good investments. The all season from mazda are not that great to be honest, they lack water capacity. While a Cantire job never fits properly.

welcome to the forum!

think garage16 was advertising for some relatively cheap 3D floor liners a few days ago. I thought the price was good and they seem like good quality.

Welcome, depending where you live, try to make it out to a few meets. You'll see how others have modded their 3 and get a better perspective on what mods you'd be interested in doing.

Base "mods" or I would consider them just accessories.
OEM Rain guards. I cannot stress OEM enough
Weathertech floor mats.
Tint. Keeps your car much cooler.
