View Full Version : At budds. Alignment spec for pro kits?
At budds and they are adimant that prokits cant be aligned to factory spec without shredding my tires.
Does anyone have alignment spec for gen 1 non speed with pro kits?
Waiting at the dealer!

My hunch would be you need adjustable camber arms in the rear to help with that alignment, not sure if you have them or not. I am googling for you though lol...
Altech auto has done my last 2 within factory spec. But I'm shedding tires.

Looks like a lot of people insist on getting a camber kit to align them properly, I got SPC adjustable rear camber arms on my car when I put on new tires and rims. I had a camber of 2.4 or something stupid like that without them, now with them I am at 1.7 which is right on spec.
They can do the front alignment but not the rear?

No adjustment for the front. Really surprised you had that much camber with pro kits.

No prokits, just new tires and rims.
Well, we gave up. I left the dealership with no alignment done.
Going to scour google for the technical specs.
I'm seriously contemplating going back to stock height. I'll be selling the car in a year or so anyway, it'll make it easier to sell.
I have a strut mount that has play in it and clicks every time I go around a corner/bump, so it'd be cheaper to get it done at the same time.
Budds quoted me just over 600 bucks (4 hours to replace springs?!?) to do the work including alignment + front driver strut mount)
Wondering what the part is on its own, and how much jimmy would charge me.
They were very insistent (and With clear evidence of my destroyed sumitomo's within 30k) that running OEM spec for an alignment would destroy my tires with pro-kits.
I'm a bit confused as I thought... that alignment is alignment: If the tires aren't brutally cambered/leaning, and they're pointing perfectly forward/paralell/toe to eachother - you were good to go.
Right now I'm leaning towards going back to stock unless I can get this resolved via just an alignment. I do 35k+ a year highway, I really don't "need" a lowered car any more.
Time to google my ass off.
EDIT:
They said they needed "all the measurements" to plug into their alignment machine. I did let them know it was about a 1.2 inch drop, but it wasn't enough.
Maybe I don't understand, but I was just thinking: get the tires in the lowest common denominator of camber, and get rid of any toe. I guess the only rocket science part is to make sure they're all pointing directly forward in relation to the car, so you're not going stright down the highway with your nose pointed crooked. lol.

If your toe is good there is no way you're going to ruin your tires in a year (since you're selling anyway) on a prokit unless the shop totally screwed up your alignment, or there is something else causing your alignment to be off.
I have a prokit on my speed, no camber kit. I did not get an alignment post install because the shop told me my alignment was bang on by some miracle. All i do is highway and track and my tires which were previously ruined on the inside shoulder by a bad case of toe-in @ stock height haven't gotten any worse in the last ~10 thousand km and I haven't even rotated them.
600 bucks for a spring install sounds like robbery. I got mine done for 80 bucks and that included replacing my shocks. Install took 1 hr.

Go to limitless auto. I've gone there 3 times in the last year. They can do anything and do it at a great price.
I've found dealerships to be absolutely useless. I was recommended Newmarket Mazda so I made the trip there. They told me I only had 3 weeks left on my tires because that was "the best they can do". Took it to limitless, gave me stock specs with full drop on BC coils, drove another 2 months with the tires and sold them no problem.
TL;DR Dealerships can't do alignments worth shiet.
Called eibach - Great customer support.
He said they plug in the stock numbers, try and get it as close to that as possible. He said Toe shouldn't be a problem to get right, but its common to not get camber within spec in some cars.
Still going to price out going back to stock.

Yes. Go to an alignment shop where they're not selling you everything under the sun they can think of.

I went to budds and they flat out told me they cannot get it within spec and I'm on prokits as well. I went to Limitless and they put it on the rack and everything was in spec anyways so it worked out for me.
