So im going to keep this to the point. I rear ended the puralator truck that decided to slam on his breaks. Front bumper is a mess. Popped the hood to see if there was internal damage. It apears to be mostly just the bumper but I cant put my hood all the way down now. The driver is not reporting it so no insurance claim thank god and no cops showed up.

How much is a new bumper? Would it be cheaper to take this opertunity and put the gv bumper on?

Il post pictures later.

Plus the sides are popped out too.

You were following too closely if you couldn't stop for a puralator truck. Even if it slammed its brakes it's no 14" carbon ceramic 6 pot monster.

I was about 4 car lengths. My plan was to get around him and then I knoticed he had slammed on the breaks as I had my head turned for a sholder check and bang. This wouldnt have happened if he used his turn signals.

If you can take pictures of the mounting points when the hood is open we can get a better idea. I'd say 50/50 if you need a new one right now.

Also, a bumper from rock auto is $160, shipping is $100 atleast. Then paint, $400-500. Just get one from the dealer.

from how the bumper is sitting I think the brackets may be done in. That was my first thought. I also may need my hood to be re aligned

so its about the same price as a new one. I have a paint guy who would probably paint it for $80 and a pack o smokes lol

looks kind of like the LFA now lol. but in all seriousness that doesnt look too bad. a bumper restoration is about $350 at velocity for oem, $450 for aftermarket. not sure about the hood. call around for quotes though

On Saturday I will be making a few rounds to see who has the best deal. I may go see my buddy in St.cats in the end. This guy seems to be able to find anything anywhere for a good price lol. I am expecting to spend up to $900-1300.

+1

Even if you shop around you are only going to get marginal savings, plus probably a cheap shitty paint job.

I guess a new factory bumper is $350. Unpainted. If I do need brand new its the same price for the AE style at garage16. So in that case I may go that route. I am kind of hoping I can find a used one for cheaper

Scrap yard and look for the same colour. May take a bit of time but worth it in the end. As long as the car is drivable ( which it looks like to me. )

I did that with my moms jeep this year. Paid 150 an it came painted the same colour.

Its driveable. But I need to fix the latching mechanism. My hood wont go all the way down.

If it isn't too major, it should be about $1000ish... I had a rear bumper replaced/painted and pulled a bit and it only costed that much at CarStar.

Car has been pulled today. I get it back tomorrow. Pictures to follow! It still needs paint on some of the bumper tho :) My buddy told me he was surprised how little damage was actually done and how easy it was to fix up :)
