i think your white exterior, vinyl will look cleaner. Do you have the tech package with the gloss bumper? if you do definitely go gloss

the bumper insert just below the M emblem. On the GT with tech package, that insert is gloss black, compared to my non gloss insert

Btw I like your new avatar! Didn't mind the other one either. Haha.
Go the vinyl route unless you want to keep plastidipping it regularly. Over time the plastidip will peel off and won't look great. If you do get vinyl make sure you check the edges periodically to see if they are coming off. Take a blowdryer to that area or heat gun to that area to stick it back in place.
The reason why you're plastidip probably isn't adhering well is because you have wax/sealant on that area. Anyway go with vinyl.

@ grey re; bumper thingy...ahh ok gotcha ;)
I noticed in the pics that both owners went the color matched route. Looks good... I was leaning toward the "black mirror" cover to get a different look, but I must say I like the gloss look too...decisions decisions :-/
@ jackal; mirrors are not waxed or paint sealed at all. I made sure they were clean and I also made sure there was not crap on it. But ya, looks like I'll go the vinyl route. Just have to decide what color :)
Re; the av, thanx jackal :D but like I said...apparently it was ruining alot of people's day....so I figured I didn't want to incite a riot with any senior members soooo I changed it ;)

Buncha ball busters haha. Mine are colored matches from the factory, but if you look at the 2013 speeds, atleast with tech package have black wheels and black Mirrors looks hawt. With your white the vinyl black mirrors would look great

Hi Frankie,
I'm not in Montreal, I live in Ottawa. And in the southwest end, there's a Nextmod there. Probably offshoot owners from TO. Anyway, they sell all the popular colors. I got a can of black for $18.50 tax inc ;)

if you want to make your car look like an 80s econobox with black unpainted mirrors, go for it!
I guess there's a bunch of you who never experienced what a true econobox was like... only a driver's side mirror, no power anything, no A/C, 4 speed manual, no intermittent wipers, no rear wiper, only hub caps (not what you call "hub caps" today which are full wheel covers), 13" tires, dinky 1.3 to 1.6l carbureted engine that acts up, ugly sealed beam headlights, unpainted black bumpers, etc
I don't miss those cars one bit!

@ theman,
Interesting comment but if you notice,it's actually "the style" at the moment. Call it what you want but the look still stands. It's kinda like house paint...one year earth tone brown is in.....next year it might be sky blue.....it's all about following trends, who starts them, and who follows them...how bout car body styles...why is it that every few years car bodies change....why can't they just leave it the same style? Because tastes and styles change, and people want "something different."
The nice thing about plastidip is when this trend is over, and it will be eventually, everyone can just peel off that trend and move onto the next one right ;)

I don't know who started the trend, but I guess it's from someone born in the 90s... never knew what life was like with no cell phones, crappy cars, no intarwebs, no playstation, etc
lol
if I want the unpainted look, I'll get an old crappy 80s or 90s econo rust bucket lol
or in recent memory, the Mazda3 GX of the past did come with unpainted mirrors and door handles... "factory plastidip"? hah!
talk about looking cheap!

If my calculations are correct, with Quebec taxes that would cost me upwards of 450$ LOL

really? was there a rule where everyone has to sheepishly follow questionable fads?
if people saying jumping off a bridge is cool, will you too?
go ahead and plastidip your car... as long as you're happy, that's fine... but I stated my strong opinions about how I feel it's a bad idea and so I won't even think about doing it!
the only advantage I can see in them is protecting the mirrors from rock chips

@ the man;
Re; the rock chips on mirrors, that's one of the ideas why I wanted to dip the mirrors. That and the fact I can just peel it off whenever I want. Have you noticed that the mirrors always seem to look "beaten up" on cars like 4 years and older?
Another reason I also lamin-x'd my headlights. When time comes to sell/trade-in, they'll come off and presto!!! Mint cond. headlight housing ;)

I wish I would have lamin-x's my headlights when I bought the car. Headlights are still clear but have so many little stone pits

@ theman;
That's not what we mean theman. And I know what your talking about "if someone jumps off a cliff would one follow him too". I guess you also have to paint anyone walking around on the street with a leafs jersey (i like em both myself personally), or a bluejay jersey with the same brush? The fact that they didn't win the Stanley cup this year that they are losers so everyone else that wears the same jersey are also "jumping off the cliff"? No..it's not just support for a team (or a modding style), it's because the jerseys look awesome (powder coating rims, plastidipping mirrors and emblems) at the moment, and they wish to "follow/wear/sport" that look...
Not hating, just trying to offer a different perspective is all.
My 2 cents

good idea, but what's wrong with just leaving them on?
I've seen lamin-x and I don't like how thin it is... just crappy quality because it's thin
xpel is easily available and for the money, you're better off spending it on xpel.... better heat resistance, better rock protection... it's thick as a penny! I have yet to see an xpel film that has turned yellow or a burn mark on them from heat... the thinner competing brands however, I've seen a few like that

Yo Theman, where can you get this Xpel stuff? And I didn't think the lamin-x stuff was very thin (what I have on my fogs n main headlight housings now)....In fact, It was thicker than some of the films that some places around here (Ottawa) were using.

I don't know about Ottawa, but there's a few shops in TO that installs/carries this stuff
obviously, you don't have to have them professionally installed, you can DIY it... this stuff is thick and harder to work with... it takes prior experience with applying film to get a decent job with them... it really takes some heat and muscle to make it come out right! The headlights on my mom's corolla weren't too easy to do... lots of curves!
oh hey... I just found this on their site
