This is a true car guy. With all this money, his first purchase will be the car he has been eyeing on Craigslist for the last 3 months. Good choice but I am sure he'll be adding the new NSX when it comes out! Watch his interview on the link below.

Lucky SOB. If I found out my five dollar routine landed me a 450 million jackpot I think I'd cry in disbelief and then begin to laugh hysterically (as my friend says)
Also. I am reading that he gets taxed to s#!@t and it comes to ~$86 million after taxes?!
Now I realize 86 million is still ALOT of money but that's a huge loss.
I've heard that Canadian lotteries what you win is what you win and in America your winnings get automatically taxed.
Can anyone verify this?
Yes. That's true. The lottery system in America is a little whacked.
If you win a jackpot like the one this guy won, you have 2 choices. You take a lump sum or you ride it out with a certain amount given to you per month till the day you reach your maximum amount.
Half of this guys winnings automatically goes to taxes. So now you're at 225mil. And because you want to take the lump sum, they reduce it further. Thus ending in the 86-87mil total.
Now don't get me wrong, 86mil is an enormous amount of money. If you manage to get yourself an advisor or someone who can help you with this type of cash problem, you along with generations of your family will never have to worry about cash ever again.
However, a lot of these people end up going crazy and spending every last penny till they're back to where they started. Hard to believe, but it happens more often than not.
Canadian lottery is different. What you see is what you get. The government does not tax you on lottery winnings. So when you see lotto max hitting 50mil and a single ticket wins it, that person gets the lump sum right off the bat, tax free.
If I had this persons luck, I would immediately get rid of all my debt, setup my immediate family up for life, give a generous portion to my dearest friends, arrange a great big vacation to any of my family/friends to Hawaii, and then settle down on getting a decent place (not a huge one).
The garage of my dreams would be built so I can service my newly acquired Mclaren F1 and Ferrari F50, along side my present miata PRHT and my RX7.
One can only dream.....
Kudos to him for spending his money right, as most would go purchase a multi million dollar house and so on.

hmmm 85 million instead of monthly sums.... shows you how Americans have such insatiable greed.
With a lotto win, I would start an enthusiast auto mechanic (mod-friendly) franchise and expand thru Canada, of course after helping all nearby family/friends out of debt, and helping myself to a bigger house and a fiber optic 1gbit internet pipe.

if I won the lottery, I would probably buy a 2-3 mil house, a few fancy cars, help out the fam ( pay mortgages off) and just chilllllllllll lol

According to the article he only won 1/3 of the $448 mil jackpot. Still a big loss though.

He's going to buy the NSX and within two days trade it in for something newer and much better.

OR tune it and track it. Brings a whole new level of nostalgia, rather than seeing the same cars over and over again.
