I am looking to replace the battery in my 2009 Mazda 3 (4 years / 60k) with two amps wired to the battery separately. They are not powerful amps. One drives HU and front speakers. The other the sub.

What battery should I buy and where should I go to?

Before I got the amps were installed, I have taken the battery out of the car for storage purposes and put it back. Not sure whether I should replace the battery myself or get it done at a shop. What should I disconnect first to take the battery out and connect first to put the new battary?

I have two amps, head unit, 4 speakers, and a sub.

I have been using the original OEM battery from 2006 (250K). So far everything has been running like a champ for 2 years.

I'm no expert, but until you are seeing signs of needing the replace the battery, dimming at start up, trouble cranking over etc. I wouldn't worry about replacing the battery right away.

Sorry, I didn't word my post properly. I am trying to find a battery in case it dies. It hesitated couple of times in the winter.

Ah, gotcha, I that case CT, Napa, PartSource. Anything like that would probably be fine.

You probably aren't running anything powerful enough in your system to require anything more robust than a battery that meets the stock specs.

Try and find something with a good cold cranking amp rating that fits your budget and call it a day.

A place like CT or NAPA will likely be happy to swap out your old battery for the new one and dispose of the old one properly.

best battery to get for a fair price is the kirkland ones from costco... group 24F is what you want as it is the largest size that fits

Any idea how much is the Kirkland battery? Does Costco install the battery? I guess I have to buy Costco membership first to buy the battery. Why is the battery group 24F instead of group 35 (which I thought was group # for Mazda 3)?

I was in Costco just today and decided to look up our battery in the lookup book in the aisle. Interesting, because all of the Mazda3 batteries listed were Kirkland fitment #8. Am I missing something here?

And yes, you need a Costco membership to shop there.

Costco no longer sells 24F

I searched a few months back and after trips to different costco's talked to someone who said its no longer in their system.

I went for a 24F from CT with a 5 year warranty.

i got an interstate megatron plus battery last month or so. i got the largest one that would fit in the tray and has been a great battery so far. 800CCA and about 1000 amps from the start and the price is also great for what they list for. i got mine for about $130 buck which is waaaaay less than what everyone else gave me.

Apparently they only last 36 months and then die :/

damn... ive heard they last up to 6 years in some cases. which is why i keep the vent duct on, keeps the battery from reaching excessive temps over all. i got a warranty so doesnt matter lol

the megatron plus group 24F had excellent ratings/review from Consumer Reports in December

yupp, but it seems like the quality changes every couple of years as theres only a few (i think 3) main manufacturing companies. interstate, kirkland and walmart batteries have shifted manufacturers within the last couple of years so ive heard. these batteries are a great budget batteries IMO, depends on which warranty you want.
