I have to replace my front rotors, they are in poor shape, warped, and rusted so that many areas of the pad do not make contact currently. there are "rust rings" that maybe take up half the area of the rotor.
However the pads have maybe 80% left. they are OEM and were installed by a mazda dealer.
the issue has to do with the fact that the warped rotors seem to be wearing unevenly.
I was wondering, when i purchase new rotors if I should by new pads because i am not sure if the pads are wearing unevenly.
thanks

Hey gramps,
You might actually have to take a close look at the pads and make a judgement from there. If they have been wearing unevenly (as was the case with me last year), just have someone (I hope not a dealer) shave a portion of the pads in order to resume regular wear. But typically you don't have to replace the entire brake if all you need are rotors. Hope this helps
If your rotors are warped then you should replace the pads

I'd change out the pads as well since the caliper will be off in the process or replacing the rotors.
New pads and new rotors should hopefully resolve all of your issues and give you peace of mind again.

I think that is the best bet. I don't plan on using my mechanic for this job though, he screwed up a rear brake job.
Where can I buy some decent Hawk HPS fronts?
Who does great break installs for a decent price?
looking to get this done in the next couple of months.

Where is a decent place to get a brake job nowadays, (at a decent price)?

In your own garage; free labour!
Haha. Well, not knowing where you are, I would recommend Jimmy at Street Performance (Markham) just because he's my (and several other members') go-to guy. There are others that work honestly and at reasonable prices, I'm sure.
but seriously, it's not a hard job if you have the time and any semblance of patience.

Markham is not that far for me. I don't feel comfotable changeing it myself, despite the ease. Maybe I will try him out.
