Borrow a ODB reader or go to Midas to get free reading.

Midas? Alright sounds good. It's something that's always good to know

I would still rather go to a sponsor!

I'm pretty sure no sponsors do cel checks.

Part source does it free as well.

Or you can post your location and ask if someone close to you wants to Check it for you.

Well then, I am in Richmond Hill, at Bayview and 16th. I don't mind going to part source or Midas or a sponsor, but if someone wants to come over sometime to help me check a code and have a beer, well then that would be fine :)

As mentioned, go to a local Part Source location. They'll scan it and give you the codes - absolutely free.

No point inconveniencing other members or taking up sponsors valuable time.

Last time I went to parts source they would not do it.

Well I'm not trying to inconvenience anyone. This is a car enthusiasts club with car enthusiast sponsors. If they want to help I would definitely accept the help. I would so the same. But I see what your saying

What default user says makes sense. But there are people on here that will help like that, actually someone started a thread not to long ago stating that they would do it for people in the Miss area.

. Unfortunately I'm a little distance away so I can't really help you.

But If you head to a part source and they won't do it for you pm me and we'll try and set a meeting area/time.

Thanks a lot. I'm going to do my best to get part source or Midas to do it. If all else fails I will PM you!

"inconvenience" may have been a harsh word... but you know what I mean.
There are plenty of members on here that are nice enough to help out - which is what makes this community what it is

Last time I went to parts source they would not do it.

because they're jealous of your ride

Yup. Does pretty much everything you'd need in a reader + guages

Correct. They use to offer this as a free service, but stop providing this for quite some time now.
They even had notifications up on the front windows indicating that they will not do this any more.

I'm pretty close as well as I live in Whitby and work in Vaughan, I can meet you at some point with my reader if you like. PM me to work out a time and place to meet.

Cheers,
Rob.

This. It's $15 on amazon and the app is free if you don't want the pro version. I've used it on my mazdas, my parents bmw's, friends subarus, acuras, hondas, and volvo. I wish there was an OBDI version though. I'm left doing a stomp test on my e30

If you want to have it checked on deeper level then Generic OBD2 hit me up, I have X431

I work at a Part Source, we do CEL scans all day every day for free. If someone says they can't or won't, just ask for a manager, sound like lazy employees. Also, make a purchase of something extremely cheap (like a 25c clip or washer) and save the receipt so you get the employee number to make a complaint. And trust me, the stores read the customer reviews people give.

We have OBDII scanner tools
http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/obd-scantool-0251010p.html <-- the scanner we use.

Dundas/Dixe has told me no.

Why not just grab a cheep scanner from Canadian tire when they have their black friday sale. I picked up a reader for 15 bucks that does the job.
