So my friend just installed a set of OEM rain visors for his 2011 mazda3 hatch pearl white and I think they look good. I myself just purchased a 1st gen 2009 mazda3 hatch mgm and contemplating whether to get a set for myself. I see a lot of 1st gen hatchbacks but surprisingly have not seen any with the OEM visors on. I've heard that OEM was the way to go. I've seen pictures and some look decent. However pictures can be deceiving.

Question is, for all the people who have seen them on a 1st gen hatchback, do they in any way compromise the overall look of the car? Or would you say its an enhancement cosmetically to the 3? Does it ruin the clean look of the 3? I like the idea of keeping rain out and getting some airflow during rainy summer days however the function of the visor isn't a priority for me... meaning I can do without. However if they actually add to the look of the car then I can see it as a plus and will purchase them. Price for OEM ones isn't an issue for me as I can get them at a fairly reasonable price.

Thanks for your answers

...I know they don't make the car faster...

I have aftermarket ones, but they are one of those usability mods that I cannot live without now.

Benefits:
-Use windows during rain
-Less cabin wind turbulence when windows are open
-More flare to the looks

Correct me if I'm wrong. I have the 2nd gen OEM visors and you can't see any metal from the clips or pins but I think on the 1st gens you can see the round metal pins.

Yes, I believe you can see the metal clips and pins for the 1st gens... as it looks in pictures I've seen. I think the tint from the 1st gen visors are a lighter shade

I think it all depends on the color of your car and the look your going for.

I have a aftermarket set of rain visors on my grey mazda3 hatch as well as tinted windows and I found at the visors complemented the look of the car

I have a metro grey also tinted windows. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by look of the car but I guess I just really like the simple clean look of a car in it's stock state. Tinted windows, nice rims, freshly washed and waxed and I'm good to go. I'm not into crazy exterior mods albeit lowering would do wonders for the annoying wheel gap but I digress. I'm tempted to just get these things and slap em on to see if they fit my eye. How difficult would it be to remove these things? Will the adhesive ruin the paint on the window frames if removed? Or are they meant to be on permanently?

You have no visible paint on the window frames. That's a piece of matte black vinyl. Once you stick it on, it'll be difficult to remove. Replacing the vinyl isn't hard to do anyway since you can get it precut from the dealership.

I've got a grey first gen sedan with OEM window visors. Check my build thread in the member's rides section. I personally love the look of the OEM ones because they're flush with the frame. IMO, it's a very good first mod. It gives the car a sleeker look.

I had the aftermarket ones from NextMod, and had no issues with them. They functioned fine.
As for cosmetics, I don't think it enhances or takes away from the look of the car; more just personal preference.

Oh haha. I thought the frames might have been wrapped with something as opposed to painted but I wasn't sure. Btw I checked out your build thread and your car looks awesome! I've actually seen the OEM visors on the sedans before and I agree it gives it a sleeker look. It's the hatch I haven't seen them on. The hatches are "stubbier" and I'm just worried the visors may give it an even rounder look if that makes any sense. Maybe I'll give it a few days and keep my eye out for one.

Hmm haven't given the aftermarket ones a thought. I've mostly heard good things about the OEM. Do they stick out more than the OEMs? And is it the tape on or inchannel? I guess it won't hurt to check those ones out too.

I've had aftermarket ones on for quite some time, no clips, just double sided tape. It sticks on fine, and is cheaper than oem!

Sticks on by double sided tape. Never had issues with them whatsoever. It's cheaper than OEM, and the one's I got stuck out less than OEM.
