Most of this info is accurate. The law has been updated since that post.

Updates:
Neon lights under the car are now illegal. As are the LED washer nozzles.
WRT the Headlight: this has now been classified as a candella power, not an amount of lights. Police have the right to make you have the lights tested to see if they are too bright.
WRT Steering wheels: Replacement steering wheels must have an airbag feature, required by law since 2001.

Please note that these laws that I have updated may not necessarily be found in the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario but have been made a municipal law in Toronto and surrounding areas.

Hello, I was just wondering what if anyone has put on a new exhaust to their cars yet, and if they do what is the best type to get?

Also the speakers? I saw the Xeoen, sorry if I misspelled your name man, I was wondering what type of speakers you got and where you got the best price? One more thing, are the headlights on the 3 like the really cool ones you see on like the BMW\'s or Benzs?

Thanks,
uwwbond

The best type would be the one that doesn\'t make your 4 cylinder engine sound like a lawnmower. Seriously, you can go from a custom mandrel bent exhaust to a full on aftermarket bolt-on cat back exhaust, just make sure you get quality parts and stainless steel tubing. Magnaflow, MazdaSpeed, Brullen and Brosal all make exhausts for the 3.

Xenon\'s ride is bone stock...for now, we in the Club are slowly working on that, it\'s a \"5 Year Plan\". :D

I\'ve swapped out the entire audio system except for the HU. Probably the best deal that I got was on the front speakers, 6.5\" Alpine SPX-177a. They retail for $550 but since I bought them right after Alpine introduced their replacements, the SPX-177r, I got them for $400 from Kromer Radio. Since I bought those I decided to get everything else done otherwise it would be like going to work only half dressed. I went for all Alpine this time around and bought a pair of 6.5\" SPR-134a coaxials for the rear, an MRP-F240 4 channel amp, an MRD-M301 single channel amp for the 10\" SWR-1041D sub in a sealed box.

The factory lights up here are halogen bulbs. In the US and HID/Xenon upgrade is available straight from Mazda. You can buy an aftermarket kit from www.xenondepot.ca from $350US, but you will have to install it yourself. Personally, I\'m sticking with my aftermarket Hoen bulbs because to repair the Xenon lights (either the Mazda ones or the aftermarket kit) is expensive.

Your system is damn sweet! IMO there are 3 stages to stereo upgrades. The first stage is when all you care about is BASS and more BASS. You don\'t care about the quality of the highs and mids that much. Then the second stage is where you\'re starting to go deaf due to stage 1 :D So you tone down the BASS, but you can\'t quite let go of it, so you have a system that can still pump up the BASS. The last stage is where bluntman is. You\'re an audiophile and you want balanced music where the mids and highs are crystal clear and the bass is not overpowering. Pure bliss to listen to music in his car!

I\'m currently at stage 2. It\'s better than stock, but the clarity isn\'t as pure since I did not want to spend the money on high-end speakers (all speakers were changed, but they were under $150/pr and I didn\'t purchase a separate amp for them either). My 2 12\" subs are set so that the bass is slightly higher than the music was intended for, plus these subs give me the option to blast it for those rear times I imagine myself back in high school :p

Anyway, I\'ll probably be up to bluntman\'s par on my next car :)
