Why replace the rotors? You notice any problems when braking?

WHen you order from Rock Auto, you'll notice 2 things.
1. Shipping will wreck your wallet
2. The prices will not be the same on the invoice as to when you bought them.
Sometimes, its just better to go through a friend at a parts store, and get quality items, unless you have a really big order and plan to pick it up in the USA.
Duty fee's will also burn up a few bills.

Rockauto has warehouses in US and CAN (Brampton).
Ordered inner fenders and received within 3days.
Dealership cost $260 for each fender
Rockauto cost including shipping....58 bucks!
If it has a US flag beside the part..it'll ship from the US.

+1
The only cars on which I replaced rotors all had 200km+ (you know what I mean).
The thing that supposed to wear is the pads.. otherwise you have a problem!
Stock OEM rotors should last approx 200km, or 3 front and 2 rear pads.
At 100km they start getting a lip on the edge (finger nail barely catches it), but if it bothers you, you can file it with angle grinder.
But, if you were scamed into getting rotors replaced, they probably put cheap China rotors that wear FAST - steering wheel vibrates when braking in < 20km.
Even many expensive drilled "Made in USA" are just cheap Chinese rotors.
Here is Mazda3 spec from factory manual ( believe stock rotors are 25mm and 11mm):
Front disc plate runout limit - 0.05 mm {0.002 in}
Minimum front disc plate thickness - 23 mm {0.91 in}
Minimum front disc plate thickness after machining - 23.8 mm {0.94 in}
Rear disc plate runout limit - 0.05 mm {0.002 in}
Minimum read disc plate thickness - 9 mm {0.35 in}
Minimum rear disc plate thickness after machining - 9.8 mm {0.39 in}
Finally, unless you have MS3 and track race, stick to OEM rotors and pads.
I guarantee you a million percent, even the most high tech drilled space-age vented and super-ceramic pads will stop within a couple feet of OEM..
because that's max possible with P205 tires and cylinder pressure.

I was going to buy from rockauto to for my gf's '07 Mazda 3. I don't know much about cars or parts but it seemed cheap to me. I guess I'll have to trust my shop not to gouge me.
Can someone give me a guestimate how much it will be to replace rear rotors and pads? Think my mechanic is @ $50 an hour.
