Mistaken....for a BMW

Driving along Eglinton Ave. (in Mississauga) a buddy from work pulls up next to me in his Explorer. He looks over, waves, rolls down his passenger side window and says something about my car. The next day he comes over to harass me and says \\\"why are you driving a BMW?\\\". I told him I\\\'m not, it\\\'s a Mazda, but wished I could afford such a car. I thought it was pretty funny. I guess at a quick glance without seeing any emblems the car could be mistaken for something else. I personally I think it\\\'s a cross between a VW and a IS300, with a hint of Altima (rear passenger doors). But hey BMW is no insult in my book :)

Has anyone else mistaken your cars for something else?

For some reason my car is always being mistaken for a 3 even though it says \"Axela\" right on the hatch. :D

I don\'t get it... There\'s Mazda symbols all over the car... and it looks nothing like a 3 series. Why would they mistake it for a BMW? I\'m sorry but to mistake it for a BMW, you must be very ignorant about cars.

OK, I can see the sedan as being mistaken for a 3 series, maybe even a Jetta (if I see the sideview/profile of a 3 sedan out of the corner of my eye). It\'s a compliment either way!

Looks like a 3 made by BMW... there are lots of similarities. I can understand someone confusing those two cars, but I don\'t see how anyone can confuse the 3 with a 2004 BMW. BMW doesn\'t even make a hatchback like the 3.

lol thats funny, but even my friends say that mazda3 does look like a bmw in some ways, especially if you look from the side.

Mazda 3 sedan does look like a BMW 3-series (1999-200X model..) from the side if you don't look TOO carefully at the very front or the very back.
